Chapter 22 by NeedAMedic NeedAMedic

Now, the real fun begins:

A Task for Skye: Get coins from a stranger

"I've got one for the lovely lady tryin' ta hide herself in the back! Oh yes, I see you" The man who stepped up had a thick accent from somewhere in the northern-lands, and the weathered appearance and light hair to match it. His eyes settled on Skye, who looked around, away, anywhere but back at him until she had **** but to accept he was truly talking to her. "Hahar! I suppose ye can try to worm yer way out of it if ye like, but that just means more to do for your other friends here."

"I..." Skye started to speak, but didn't seem able to muster a whole phrase. Something about the ****, immensely crowded room, and the fact that she was surrounded by strangers seemed to make her even more timid than usual.

"You could at least tell her what it is, first." Becky stepped forward, placing herself between the stranger and her friend.

"Aye, that I could." he conceded, shrugging and tilting his head from side to side. "It's nothing too challenging. I see ye've got an instrument there. All ye've gotta do is play a nice song for some fella in town and get him to give ye some coin."

"Oh, I think I can do that." Skye finally spoke up. She didn't often perform for crowds, but she would have felt guilty just handing the responsibility over to the rest of the team.

"Excellent! We'll provide a small escort to make sure ye're safe, of course. And to make sure that yer task is accounted fer." the Northerner said, and a couple of people around him mumbled in agreement. Looking over, both Becky and Skye were relieved to count a large, bulky and well armored woman among their number.

"Alright, I suppose..." Skye stepped forward, following their lead away from the rest of the team and out into the humidity of the seaside night. AraƱilla had a decent night-life it seemed, as the noise in the taverns could be heard even from the deck of the ship. Somewhat tipsy and surrounded by a group of strangers, Skye started to make her way into the city. She had only just set foot on land when the Northern man placed a hand on her shoulder.

"I forgot to mention, back on the ship," he said, a gleam in his eye. "If ye want to... spice it up a bit, I have no problem making it count fer two." His eyes lowered to Skye's sizable chest, then returned back to her face a meaningful grin spread across the man's face. "There's more than one way for a pretty girl like yerself to earn some coin in the dead of night, after all." Chuckles throughout the rest of the group, including if not especially the burly woman let Skye know that she was alone in her discomfort at the suggestion.

How does Skye handle her task?
