A Rude Awakening !

"Deb, time to wake up" said Carol quietly, as she gently shook Debbi's shoulder once more. Debbi stirred but she was totally disoriented. She registered that she wasn't in her own bed but where was she ? Opening her eyes she saw she wasn't alone. Carol and her family; what was she doing here ? "Carol ?" she said questioningly. She sat bolt upright and the blanket fell away leaving her topless. "Gosh, oh, sorry, sorry, how rude" she hastily apologized as she pulled the blanket back around herself.

"No worries" laughed Carol. "I'll go and get you a dressing gown. I wouldn't have bothered to wake you but it is a work day and you have that presentation to give to the Japanese before they leave." Debbi groaned as the events of last night came back to her, along with her predicament this morning. "But what am I going to wear ? I can't get my stuff back from that waitress Jenny until she shows up for her shift tonight" she moaned. "We'll find something of Charlie's for you" Carol reassured her. "It may not be ideal but it'll be better than nothing, which is what you're currently wearing !" she grinned. Debbi peaked under the blanket to see that was indeed the case.

"Go and take a shower, I'll leave the dressing gown outside the door. You'll still have time for breakfast. Jeff won't mind us being a little late as long as you're there for the presentation." Debbi gathered the blanket around herself and headed for the stairs.

"Can she borrow a pair of your knickers ?" Carol asked her daughter. "Sure, not a problem" agreed Charlotte, who always found Debbi to be a laugh. "But goodness knows what else will fit her." She began to rummage through the back of her wardrobe and started to laugh. "How about these ?" she joked, holding up a couple of garments. "Perfect" agreed Carol. "Mum, I was joking ! She couldn't wear these to work" objected Charlotte. But there remained within Carol a lingering trace of the mischief with which she had conspired against Debbi in the past. "Nonsense" she proclaimed. "And anyway, you said yourself that there isn't much of yours that would fit her and it seems as if those would do."

Charlotte laughed again. She could see there was an element of truth in that. "Ok, it's just a pity I've got to get off to college now and won't be able to see her wearing them !"
