A Reason and A Promise

You quickly spin your head around, surprised you didn't notice anybody else out on this balcony. Sure, you did just immediately open the door and step out to the railings of the balcony and close your eyes, you didn't even think to look around first to make sure it wasn't occupied. As your eyes focused on the man seated in one of the chairs you almost didn't recognize him as he was not decked out in his armor. The size of his body and the giant slash across his face from his upper right eyelid down to his upper left cheek told you all you needed to know. Your eyes trail down to the little table next to him, his hand is just spinning a small dagger on it's side, the blade twirling around in circles as he's playing with it in his grasp.

Commander Rixx notices your eyes go to the dagger and he immediately stops the blade and pulls his hand away from it, cupping his hands and holding them in front of himself, leaving that dagger just sitting there on the small little table.

The two of you just hold your gaze, looking at one another, neither of you saying anything.

"Sorry..." you mumble out as you step back towards the wooden door to go back inside the castle. You walk past his seated self and begin to push the door open, opening it half way before your body stops. You look to the side and clench your eyes shut briefly, taking one more deep breath. You let the door close and step back, moving back out to the railing. His eyes never leave yours as he's just monitoring your every step.

It pains you to say what you're about to say, every little fiber in your body is telling you not to, but you push through that feeling, it's the least you can do "Lexie told me what you did for her. It doesn't change anything but..." you bite your tongue, going silent for a moment "Thank you..."

He doesn't respond at all but you see his head nod up and down at you, acknowledging your thanks.

You stare at him, shaking your head back and forth, you should go, you should just leave him, stop talking with him, but you couldn't, you needed to know something, you had to ask him... "Why did you do it?" you hesitate, glaring at Rixx "Why did you kill her?"

His gaze finally broke from yours as his head turns to the side, staring longingly off into the distance.

"Was it just some stupid fucking order? Huh? Is that all it was?" your voice cracking slightly in anger "Five fucking years ago you took her from me." you feel your eyes filling with water, you sniffle in your nose as you turn your body, turning your back at Rixx. Both your hands grip down hard on the railing below, applying as much pressure as you can "And when I finally get her back...I fucking FINALLY get her back in my life." you take a deep breath, your head looking down into the castle courtyard "You fucking take her from me again..." you puff out in anger, your teeth clenching down hard afterwards as a tear falls down below. "Just why. Just tell me there was a good fucking reason, just tell me why..." you close your eyes hard, another tear rolls down your cheek.

Silence. Nothing but silence for what felt like the longest time. Your body pulsing in anguish as you continue to breath deep, sniffle your nose and let tears fall down below. "Just tell me...fucking tell me there was a good reason..." your voice continues to crackle with sadness and anger combined.

More moments go by before Rixx finally responded "I can't." his normally confident voice sounding a little more human "There isn't a single good reason."

A few quick breaths exit your mouth as you whimper out in sadness, your head tilts down even farther to the ground, squeezing your eyes shut hard, more droplets of liquid fall below. "GOD DAMMIT!" you release your right hand from the railing and punch down as hard as you can hitting the railing "Just...fuuuuck!!!" you look up in the sky, sucking in a giant sum of the cool night air before exhaling it slowly, your body visibly shaking in pure anger "God..." you lean forward, gripping hard onto the railing again with both hands in rage as you angle your body forward, bringing your forehead to rest on the railing of the balcony.

"For what it's worth..." He speaks in a soft tone "If I could take it back..." his voice mumbles out, his tone changing slightly into sadness "I did care for her..."

You start to laugh slightly "hahaha, you've got to be fucking kidding me..." you push your head back up to the sky, taking a few more deep breaths as you sniffle through your nose one more time. You turn your body back towards Rixx, his eyes still looking off into the distance, his body not pouring out the confidence he normally has. "I'll work together with you, I'll even help you out if needed, but know this..." your hand grips down on the railing behind you, squeezing down with all your might "After this has been settled, after your plan has ended and our Kingdoms are back in order." you swallow down hard "I'm coming for you, Rixx." you let that sink in for a few seconds, his head finally turning back to make eye contact with you "I will search for you, I will hunt you, and in the end...I will kill you."

Rixx just lets out a small puff of air as his lip curls up, giving you a grin "You'll try, Darien." he pauses "A glorious fight that'll be..." his eyes gaining his confidence again "and I wouldn't have it any other way..."

With that you leave the balcony, pushing your way through the door to enter the castle once more, ready to head back to your bedroom. Unfortunately for you, instead of clearing your head with some cool fresh air, your mind is now racing with even more thoughts...
