A Positive Test, and a Selfie

As you sit there, in the public bathroom of the pharmacy, plastic stick in your hand, you honestly weren’t sure what you were expecting. “Well, I guess that’s it then.”

Pregnant, you were pregnant. Well, you were 99% sure you were. You only used 3 tests. There was a CHANCE that all three gave false positives. Right, right??

Putting your head in between your hands you mutter an “Oh, fuck…” It is real, it is finally real. No more delays, or maybes, or uncertainty, it was real. “Fuck…” what was your Mom going to think? What would Blue say? Ok, Blue probably be so excited that he would probably call his family immediately and start bragging. But what would Mom say, what would she think?

You are snapped out of your thoughts by the sounds of knocking on the door. “Amber, you ok?” It’s Melody. She must be checking in on you. How long had you been in here?

“Yeah, I’m ok. Just give me a minute.” Ok, get it together, you got this. It wasn’t like you weren’t expecting this. You were just ignoring it, putting it off, trying to pretend it wasn’t real. But no ignoring it now. You take a deep breath and open the bathroom door and find Blue and Melody waiting for you, both of which are looking at you expectantly. Slowly you raise the hand holding the pregnancy test, until it is level with your face. “Guess I passed, huh.”

Without wasting a moment, Blue wraps an arm around your shoulder and for a split second you think he is going to be sweet and try to say something comforting. But then you see him pull out his PokeGear, say “SMILE!” and are blinded by a flash of light.

For a moment you are too stunned to think, let alone speak, as you process what just happened. But apparently Melody is quicker on the take, screaming. “Did you just take a FUCKING SELFIE!?”

Apparently non-bothered, Blue simply starts pressing a few buttons on his PokeGear. “Well yeah. How else should I make the announcement? And… done.”

Wait, what? What did Blue just do?

Still yelling, Melody asks what you are thinking. “What did you just do?!”

Still completely un-phased, Blue puts his PokeGear back into his pocket. “Oh, I just made a media post. That’s all.”

Now both you and Melody yell at Blue. “YOU DID WHAT?!” Oh, sweet Acreus? You weren’t sure HOW you wanted Mom to find out about this, but you didn’t want her to find out like this!

Wait, maybe you still have time? It wasn’t like your mother was a stay-at-home single woman without a career of her own who didn’t have anything better to do than share and create posts on social media, all day? Right? Right?

You feel your PokeGear vibrate and with a sense of dread you pull it out of your pocket. You take a look at it and see that you are receiving a phone call, a phone call from your mother.

“Well, shit.” With that, there is only one course of action for you to take.

You faint.

Author's Notes: Not a very long chapter, but I thought it got to the point. Plus having Amber faint was both FUNNY and a good place to end the chapter.

Update: Was messing around with AI Art and after some tweaks I managed to get a picture of "Amber" holding a pregnancy test.
