A Positive Prognosis
The doctor sat down with Jamaal and Elizabeth.
"So with surgery, I think there is a really good chance you'll get some mobility back in your legs, and live a normal life," he started. Jamaal and Elizabeth whooped, and she hugged and kissed him.
"BUT," the doctor continued. "It won't be easy. It'll take lots of physical therapy, lots of work. I don't see playing ball anytime soon, and probably not competitively ever. But you'll be able to have a life without a disability, which is something you should cherish." Jamaal looked at him, eyes determined.
"Just tell me what you think I won't be able to do. And I'll show you I can." He squeezed Elizabeth's hand with renewed hope.
