A Parrot named Polly (Uncreative, I know)

You open your door and are met with a "Hello! Hello!" From your pet parrot, Polly. Yes, you know it's an uncreative name, but you couldn't care less.

You walk through your house, doing your usual post-work household chores, such as filling Polly's food and water, putting your dirty clothes in the wash, and making yourself dinner.

Once you finish all those chores, you walk over to your couch and sit down, turning on the TV.

"...In other news, a mysterious meteor has been sighted in near Earth. NASA does not believe that the meteor will hit the planet, so do not be alarmed- However, there is a good chance of-"

You switch the channel to a comedy show.

It's surprisingly not funny. You find yourself beginning to drift off.

And that's when it happens. A bright flash fills the room, originating from the caged parrot hanging in the room.
