A Nice Dinner

“I made reservations at that really nice restaurant on Broad Street,” Nate said. “I figure we go there, ’order some fancy food, and see where the night takes us.”

Nora smiled. “That sounds lovely.”

Nora took Nate’s hand as he led her out the door where his car waited. He opened the passenger door and helped Nora in. “For you, mademoiselle,” he said.

“Such a gentleman,” Nora said as heat rose to her cheeks.

“I try,” Nate said as he closed the door and walked around to the driver’s side.

When they were both ready, Nate started to drive down the road and every once in a while glanced over at Nora’s beautiful face. She was really glowing, and Nate couldn’t help but have his love for her reinforced. He looked back at the road, and Nora said. “So why didn’t you ask me out sooner?”

Nate laughed. “Uh, well. I guess I was afraid you would say no. I know it’s stupid, but I really like you, Nora. Like a lot. And I didn’t want to screw things up.”

“So, your solution was to just not do anything?” Nora asked.

“My solution was to grow a pair before I asked you,” Nate said. “And anyway, how come you never asked me if you wanted it so bad?”

Nora smiled and glanced at Nate. “Well,” she said. “I wanted to see how long it would take you to grow a pair and do it yourself.”

Nate shook his head as he pulled to the front of the restaurant. Nate walked around and opened the door for Nora while handing the keys to the valet driver. He then took Nora’s hand and walked her inside. “Reservation under Shepherd for 2,” Nate said.

“Right this way, sir,” the host said as he led the two to a private room in the back of the restaurant. The room was lit by candles and decorated with rose petals.

“Oh my God,” Nora said. “Wow, Nate. This is awesome.”

“I am glad you like it,” Nate said.

“Very romantic,” Nora said.

Nate kissed Nora on the cheek. “I’m glad you like it.”

Nora looked at the menu figuring out what to get.
