A Magic Ring

Curiously, Mata picked up the silvery ring from her nightstand and inspected it. Stuck through its hole, she found a small piece of parchment with big, black letters written on it saying "Don't put it on". Mata giggled as she moved the plain siver piece around in her hand. "Oh Xavier, what mischief is it now?" she whispered amused. The ring was clearly made for bigger people so it would only fit on Mata's thumb. "He could've at least put some effort into the design of this ominous ring." she joked as she watched the ring accidentally slide down her middle finger. Suddenly a bright, flashing light came from the ring and Mata felt a rush of magic run through her body.
