Meanwhile, back with John...
A King's Duty
John made his way to his room and activated the Transportation Crystal, instantly reemerging into his castle’s Transportation Room. He quickly made his way towards the Throne Room, weaving between the elves that had decided to take care of the castle’s daily maintenance. Once there, he sat down, his head in his hands, as he just stared at the floor as his mind raced with all of what had happened to him in the past week.
What has happened with me this week? thought John as he remembered back to when he first awoke at the beginning of the week. I had pop ups with quests on them, spells being displayed, a whole fucking HUD and character screen! His mind focused on the early quests he got, the first spells he haphazardly stumbled onto, and then meeting other Abyss users. Moira! She’s the one that caused all this! She introduced me to the Abyss, told me about it, and marked me as one of its members! John wanted to with all his might to blame Moira for his new life, the new risks, and his mother’s demonic taint, but deep down, he knew it wasn’t her fault. But even then, I gained more confidence, met new people, had sex… lots of sex. And I’ve gained power to protect everyone I care about! thought John as his thinking changed from the negative of what has happened to the positive. Meeting and befriending the twins, being given Yatina from Mrs. Wentworth, and then saving Gali and the rest of the elves. A smile crossed his face. He rose his head from his hands and sat in on his throne in a regal manner. There he saw his companions, their eyes glued to his form, worry on their faces.
“I am John Newman, King of Tenebris, and The Gamer. I shall protect this kingdom, its citizens, and my faithful companions, no matter what! Any who threaten one of us, threatens all of us, and we shall strike with all our power to erase the threat, for nothing can stop us if we stand side by side, doing what is necessary for us to live a prosperous life,” declared King John Newman I, a look of pure determination on his face.
“All hail our king!” yelled out Idena, to which the rest of the girls followed, cheering at their king.
Achievement Unlocked: A King’s Duty
So you finally realized what it means to be a king, to put your people and lands before yourself. Now go, and do kingly things! Knowing you, you’ll probably enact jus primae noctis.
Reward(s): +10 CHA, Kingly Diplomacy
Kingly Diplomacy
Passive
Kingly Diplomacy allows you to negotiate with Abyssal Organizations on equal footing. Whoever you negotiate with will see you as an equal and/or possible threat. Any negotiations made before this skill was obtained has been nullified.
“That’s quite the new ability,” John said as he looked over the pop ups. The CHA boost and new passive were because of a king’s charismatic tendencies and negotiation skills. John wondered how he could use this new ability to his advantage but hadn’t met any other organizations besides Moira’s Order.
“And here I thought necromancers were all slaughtered by the Order,” commented William, as he watched the old necromancer raise the once dead to life again. The skeletal remains glowed green as the forbidden magic wove through the bones, slowly connecting the bones together until the skeleton stood on its own accord, the green glow of its magic in the creature’s eyes.
“Ah yes, yes. That’s because we necromancers want it to be so. We’ve taken precautions to make sure those zealots don’t wipe out our magic. Just because they say it’s forbidden, doesn’t mean the rest of us agree!” spouted the old man, his memory faltering. “We’ve made it so not even the Order Confessors can gain our secrets. We have a memory editing spell cast on us so we forget completely who is a necromancer, only remembering everything once we see another one. It has allowed us to survive and for the Order to think the necromancers they do find are just people who’ve stumbled upon some texts they may have missed,” explained Professor Raynesh.
“Wow, old man, that’s quite the little operation you guys have,” commented Sasha, who was rather bored with the business talk Raynesh and William were having. She was busy looking over her Magic cards, trying to come up with a new deck.
“So, now that I showed you the basic necromantic ways, let me introduce you to the good stuff!” said the old professor with a smile on his face as he phased the three of them into his laboratory barrier around his house.
“Masta, flap flap birdies ready!” spoke a lumbering creature made up of multiple people.
“Ah good! Thank you for the update, Stitches!” Raynesh said as he patted his abomination, who smiled at the recognition. “Come, that is what I’ll show you first!” he said as he motioned William and Sasha to follow. They made their way down a narrow corridor and into a room with a dozen pods in it. Sasha peered closer into the pods and there she saw a grotesque statue in the liquid of the pod. Sasha leaned in close to study its facial features, amazed at the fine detail of the lines and curves in such detail. Suddenly, the eye opened and the creature shrieked.
“AHHHHHH!” was all Sasha could say as she moved back and fell on her ass. “I-I-It’s alive!” she gasped, her shaking arm pointing at the pod.
“Ah yes, yes they are. They are the first batch of my new undead: gargoyles. Normally, we necromancers raise flying creatures, such as birds, for aerial combat. But I believe them to be too weak! Now, back when ancient necromantic societies existed, they spoke of winged guardians that protected their cities from any threat, a mix of flesh and rock, sturdy enough to deflect the magic of the times. But, like all ancient magic, it was lost, and so I have spent my many years attempting to rediscover those old magics. And with these,” the professor said as he pointed to the pods, “I believe I have finally rediscovered the gargoyles!” Reynesh’s chest swelled with pride as he finished talking, a huge smile on his face.
“Fascinating!” exclaimed William, who rushed over to a pod and looked at the contents inside. “If you can mass produce these, I’m sure the Führer would pay you handsomely for them,” he informed the professor.
“I’m sure he would, but these are just prototypes. They have yet to see combat. I’m not even sure they’ll last outside the pods,” Reynash explained.
“Yes, of course. But, perhaps I can secure funding for you to perfect your research on the condition that only the Third Reich gains the knowledge of how to create these creatures,” William offered Reynesh, to which he shook his head no.
“I’m sorry, but I can’t agree to that. This knowledge I’m finding is to benefit all of my fellow necromancers! So that the old ways can be remembered and we can once again be acknowledged for our mastery of magic!” proclaimed the prideful professor. William fidgeted with the rings on his hand, determining how best to deal with the old man to secure his allegiance to the Nazis but was interrupted by the professor’s abomination.
“Masta, dis one do somethin’ funneh wit his hands!” Stitches pointed at William.
“Ah yes, magic stored in rings? Item based magic is rather rare nowadays, isn’t it?” asked Reynesh.
“These rings are ancient heirlooms passed down from the Patriarch of the Hohenstaufen family to the heir apparent for countless generations!” spat William, his family pride following out.
“Yes, yes, no insults meant. I’m always happy to see another user of ancient magics. There aren’t too many of us left. Ah, but that does remind me!” Reynesh’s face lit up as he remembered something very interesting to him. “Speaking of old magics, I’ve heard that one of, if not the oldest, magics have recently made their way to Springfield. What brought them here I do not know,” finished Reynesh as William listened intently.
“One of the oldest, you don’t mean the fabled…” started William as Reynesh nodded to affirm the Nazi’s suspicion. “If true, then I must inform Headquarters at once! Sasha, find out where this mage lives while I deal with this new information!” commanded William as he hurried out of the room.
“So, you are a Nazi now, my dear?” asked the old man, to which Sasha balked at him.
“Of course not! They just happen to pay very well. But I figured it’d be best not to turn down their new job when I was surrounded by dozens of them in their HQ!” she told her friend.
“Hmm, yes. You are a survivor that is for sure. I bet you will get along just fine,” he told her with a warm smile on his face. “Now,” he said as he clapped his hands together, “shall we free my gargoyles and have them scan the city for this John Newman your new friends are so interested in?” he said as he made his way to the control panel and started pressing buttons.
