A Brother’s Promise

Kate and Rachael stood where they were and watched as you and Neku argued about yesterday's incident. It's understandable, since your sister was born witness to something she shouldn't know about until she was older.

"You vored someone with them two watching?!?! What's wrong with you?!" You shout out in anger at Neku. "I'm not surprise that you're upset." Neku said. "Well of course I'm upset. Kate should not have seen something like that.” You stated, though he takes a deep breath. “Although not you're not completely at fault."

You turn to the two watching. "You shouldn't have followed him! He told you to stay at the camp." he stated in a calm tone "I know, but I heard noise and stuff, then afterwards, so I thought I check up just in case. I didn't mean to!" Rachael defended herself. The Zoroark clears his throat. "Anyhow, the infected was close by and it was late, and traveling at night is dangerous. What if the infected stumbled upon the camp and there were more? We could've been outnumbered. I didn't want it to come to that Rai, but I didn't really have a choice."

As much as you don't like it, you know Neku had a point. You were unconscious, it was late at night, and it was close to their position. You understand his reason, you just wished poor Kate didn't have to see it. "You only were thinking about us, so I can see why you did it." Neku nods his head. "Thank you for understanding." With that they headed off to the leader's quarters.

The four of them reached a large tent. "This is where our leader resides. Wait here, I'll let her know you're here." Neku prepares to enter, but you said. "Wait Neku, I have something to ask you." He turns to you, waiting for your question.

"Well, we're here at your camp, and you've lost your old group, what will you do? Do you have any plains?" Neku crosses his arms, “There are other teams I’ll be paired with. That’ll most likely happen." Neku answered and the three of you nodded. The Zoroark entered the tent as they waited for him to come back.

(Neku has left the group, for now)

As you waited, you felt Kate pats your arm. "Um... Rai." You turn to her. "Will you ever do the same thing he did?" You stare at her with horrified eyes for a moment before responding shakily. "N-No! I wouldn't!" "But what if you have to?" "I-I mean, he didn't know other ways. I would've thought of something." You say quickly. "You promise?" she asked, looking at you with bright orange eyes. “Promise.” you said to her, hugging her as you said that.

You made a mental sigh. You didn't expect her to ask that question. The way she looked at the sight from Neku's description hit you hard. ‘The infected are victims just as much as we are...’ you thought, affirming your promise to your sister.
