8. A brown bear

As Lygia walks, she sees movement in her peripheral vision. She stops and looks to her side. A hulking brown bear is beginning to wake up.

As it yawns, Lygia locks eyes with the creature and knows it spotted her. As it begins to stand, Lygia makes the quick calculation that she’s no match for this animal. She takes off into the woods, running once again.

[Lygia: 14. Bear: 15]

She hears a roar behind her. The bear is close on her heels and takes a swipe, trying to bring her down.

[Attack: 15 vs 8. Chance to block: 13. Damage: 4]

Lygia stumbles, the wind knocked out of her. She looks at her side and sees the blood begin to spread along her newly discovered shirt. She turns around, the bear on top of her. Lygia scrambles to her feet and tries to take off again, hoping against hope to outrun the creature.

[Lygia: 20. Bear: 12]

This time Lygia easily escapes up a tree. The bear sniffs around at the base, looking up at her but deciding the little meat on her bones isn’t worth it. Lygia perches among the branches and looks at her side. She’s bleeding heavily and her shirt is ruined, but at least she can cut the fabric into strips and bind her chest.
