7.2.a Return to the city-bound road you originally escaped from

Now healed and recovered, you decide to head toward the very city where you were being taken as a slave.

Your forest allies provide you with some minerals (gold) that have no value in the forest but serve as currency in cities. Thus equipped with provisions and money, you begin your journey.

You assume a normal-sized humanoid form and travel for several days. Whenever you spot approaching travelers, you hide to avoid detection... You don't want to be captured ever again!

Eventually, concealment becomes impossible as the forest ends, and you observe cultivated fields, with multiple caravans and people along the road.

After a while, the fortified walls and the big structures of a great city appear on the horizon. You approach a bridge where a long queue of people awaits entry, some alone, others in groups, some carrying goods, others with animal-drawn carts.

At the gates, guards interrogate each entrant about their purpose for entering, intended length of stay, and other basic questions.

You are uncertain how to respond when your turn comes, and you evaluate several potential answers.
