6. A guard

Malene is nearly blinded by the light of a torch as a guard rounds the corner. He’s human, wearing only red and white robes with a dagger stuffed in his belt. He seems just as startled as she is and nearly drops the torch. As he reaches for his dagger, Malene dives forward, hoping to take him out quickly.
