2 - Kyle gets the first date

Kyle can't believe his luck as he sees the number two on his golden six-sided die. A shit-eating grin to end all shit-eating grins pushes his cheeks up. Maggie, on the other hand, crosses her arms and releases a disappointed sigh. Yes, she was jealous, but she also didn't trust Kyle going off on his own with Tanya.

"Oh well," Tanya says, "I was hoping for a threesome date, but" she turns to Kyle and smiles happily, "I'm looking forward to it." And she was. Although part of her brain was partially disappointed that she wouldn't be going on a date with both of them at the same time. She couldn't understand why that felt so right compared to simply going out with one of them. She turns to Maggie and smiles. "But I guess that means you get me all to yourself next date!"

It wasn't as soothing to Maggie as Tanya may have thought, but she tried her best to put on a happy front. "Well, I'm sure Kyle will be an absolute gentleman on his date. Won't you Kyle?" There's a hint of venom in Maggie's voice.

Kyle is brought back to Earth when he hears the question. He'd briefly drifted off to start planning his date. "Oh, yes, of course. My mom's even taken me on practice dates so I'd know how to treat a lady properly when I had my chance."

"You went on dates with your mom?" Maggie says.

"Tanya! Bring your friends to dinner!" Tanya's mom yells from downstairs.

Dinner was mostly uneventful. There was one uncomfortable moment when Drew came upstairs, but he went back down to the basement without making eye contact with anyone at the table. Otherwise, Kyle and Maggie did a decent job of keeping Tanya on track and making sure conversation was steered away from anything that would indicate Tanya's new disposition.

After dinner, Tanya drove her two friends home. Kyle told Tanya he'd text her with date ideas as he hopped out of the car. She had a hard time watching him go without kissing him.

Maggie was quiet for the car ride. She was struggling with letting Kyle have the first date. As Tanya pulls up in front of Maggie's house Tanya asks if everything was okay. "Oh, it's fine," Maggie replies. "I was just hoping to spend some alone time with you. Anyway, have fun tomorrow night, but not too much fun." As Maggie starts to get out of the car she feels Tanya grab her hand and pull her back.

"Wait," she says and leans in pressing her lips against Maggie's lips. The girl is shocked for only a moment before she understands what's happening and starts kissing back. The kissing is hungry. Maggie, starved for Tanya's affection for years, and Tanya, starved for Maggie's kisses because of the curse. Suddenly, the front porch light turns on, and Maggie panics. Pushing Tanya away gently.

"Oh my god," she says in a panting, **** whisper, "sorry, we need to stop. My Dad doesn't know..."

"We need to stop," Tanya repeats.

"Wait, no, we don't. I mean, we do but only for right now. We can kiss more on our date. It's just that I haven't figured out how to tell my Dad that, you know, I like girls.

Tanya smiles. "I understand, my parents probably would freak, too, but I guess we'll need to work out how to break it to them that we're all dating. McKenzie is going to be so grossed out," Tanya says thinking about her cheerleading friends but then remembering she isn't supposed to hang out with them anymore. It makes sense, but she also feels a little sad.

Maggie simply sighs. She feels a mixture of frustration. That desire to be with Tanya but now, once again, that mean girl attitude seeping out in her statements. She understands that if Tanya had a choice this kiss would never have happened and she'd still be bullying her. She looks and sees her Dad on the porch.

"Yeah, well, anyway, we'll go on our date the night after your date with Kyle," she opens the door and gets out without another word.

Tanya drives home and heads to bed. As she gets into bed she checks her texts and sees a new one from Kyle with their date plans.
