15. She spots the goblin in the shadows immediately

Whipping her head around, she sees the flash of green in the shadows. She’d heard tell of these creatures: goblins. Usually servants to greater masters, they roam the forest looking for prey such as herself. She wasn’t about to be taken without a fight though. She couldn’t abandon her equipment, she had to fight.

Annake grabbed her dagger and darted forward, trying to catch the goblin unaware.

She isn’t quick enough. She’s distracted by her needy body and still shaking sleep from her mind. She hears a chittering like the creature laughing at her and sees something flying toward her.

[Goblin’s Green Flask: 13 vs Annake: 23. Miss.]

Annake dodges out of the way and the flask hits a tree behind her. She smells something intoxicating as the vapors escape their vessel and is glad she isn’t under the sway of whatever potion the creature wanted to dose her with. The goblin chitters again, this time sounding angry. Annake furiously stabs again, trying to connect with the thing.

Annake strikes true this time, landing the blade directly in the center of the goblin’s chest. It gurgles briefly, blood spitting up, before falling backward and going still. She must have struck it directly in the heart. It’s all she can do to keep from whooping with glee.

She pats down the body, happily grabbing the axe from the goblin’s hand and adding it to her pack. A stronger weapon can only be a boon to her as she continues onward. With nothing else to grab from the goblin’s inventory, she packs up her camp and reorients herself to the mark she made the night before. Happy, she sets off for the morning, hoping her luck continues.
