1 Month In - Reunion with Rose

1st October. Dev had now been at the firm for a full month and settling in quite well. Following the late night research incident, and a few more late nights throughout the last few month, he'd had a relatively successful start to the job.

Dev had Teams'd Rose to meet up and she had scheduled to meet up a week later. In the meantime, he had gotten lunch with some of the women in his department. Sitting in the cafeteria, he was surrounded by the people he has and will make

"So Dev, how are you finding it so far?" asked Lucy, sitting next to Dev at the cafeteria.

Emma, sitting opposite him, added, "Yeah, it's crazy it's already been a month! You've already been such a big help!"

"He's certainly left an impact on the department, hasn't he?" Susanne said coyly.

"Well, I'm just doing my job." Dev said humbly, "The learning curve is steeper than I thought but I'm getting used to things here. Thankfully, I've got such a lovely team guiding me very step of the way, "he smirked.

"Always a charmer, aren't you?" Lucy said, smiling back. "Oh by the way, are you taking part in the interfirm tennis league?"

"The what?" Dev said, confused. This was the first he was hearing about it.

"You don't know? It's called Serving the Court, a tennis tournament between some of the big firms in the area. It's a bit of friendly competition between our market competitors, and there's singles and doubles. Do you think you'll join?"

Dev noticed how excitedly Lucy was talking about it. She was the athletic one of the group. "Well, I always think it's good to take part in things like that, especially if it's one that'll keep me active." Lucy seemed pleased with the answser. "When is it?"

"December 16th, the week before we break up for December." At law firms in the UK, all law firms close after the 3rd week of December, and employees get 24th December- 1 January off. "So it's in 2 and a half months. You should sign up now so you're invited to the practice sessions every Thursday.

"Hmm, you're right. I'll look into it, thanks. So is it broken up between men and women or is it mixed gender games?"

"Mixed gender for doubles, but singles are broken up by gender. Why, do you have a female partner in mind?"

"Just trying to keep my options open." Dev thought that was a lot to think about. He finished off his lunch, went back to his desk and applied for the practice sessions.

A few days passed and he was meeting up with Rose.
