1. The Humans

Current dominant species on the planet. Though their numbers have been reduced to roughly 1 in 10,000 of their previous population, they still maintain the largest population on the planet and with the strongest in place infrastructure since they retain most, but not all, of the knowledge required to continue using the technology of their forefathers. The current story centers around a human female named Anaya, who is the heir apparent to leadership of a tribe known as the Salaya, formed from survivors in the US pacific northwest, and southwestern Canada. They number 240 at the moment, with 32 of them being expectant mothers. All of them are between fourteen and thirty-eight years old, since the plague seemed to focus on the very young, and older people, giving those between a better chance at survival. Another odd quirk of this plague was that its infection and **** rates were much higher in males, such that only five of the 240 members of the Salaya tribe were male, making the males prized and protected. Males were generally convinced not to venture far from home, regardless of their physical strength or fighting prowess. It has been three years since the plague ran its course and the survivors are just learning that they are not alone in their quest for ownership of the planet they consider their birthright.
