Chapter 6 by TheProletariat TheProletariat

CON check DC 12. Pass to “No.”

“No.” She said softly, clutching her wound.

The boys had little expectation of an ambush and were all rattled. Tomas the Lugheaded still tugged at Kenneth to leave for fear of the malevolent spirits by the river. Kenneth the Sly thought only of the possible prey. Hunter closed in, flanking her as she lay on the ground in naught but a pallid gown stained with blood and rolled in the dirt.

“Be a good girl Havi and won’t you just give it a rest. You know what we want.” Kenneth the Sly uttered in a proud cadence. Havilah lowered her head allowing her hair to cover her face, then began reciting a spell for entanglement. The earth began to croak and awaken sending vines upfrom the soil.

Hunter noticed, grabbing his club and shouting, “Idiots stop the caster!” but failed to stop her words (17 vs 23 concentration). The writhed too slowly out of the ground to stop any of them, but remain a hazard for all. Undetered by the vines, Hunter goes to grapple her by clutching her curls, but he phases through her blur, allowing her to use her curls as a retaliatory tool smacking the fool! (5 dmg, 7/12 Hunter) The Sly, surprised, also tries to grab the waif, this time by tackling her, but he too phases through her, and with a possesed hand she shunts her rapier into his direction. But the hand pulls her too fast, and she trips over her own vines, giving Hunter another chance at his prey (CMB 12 vs 12) yet her small stature leaves him grasping into the vines. Tomas, now terrified, begins to hack at the vines, clearing some away from him and Kenneth. She swigs a potion of invisibility, then tries to step through the vine growth to place all enemies between her and the house. They keenly watch her take the potion and disapear. The two level headed ones try to watch (Perception 19, 21 vs Stealth 49) but catch no glimpse of the waif. (reflex 15 vs 16) Carefully treading her feet over the vines to not be caught caused her to hold her breath as she stepped, only swallowing when she cleared the vine field.

“Tomas! You bumbling fool, charge the house, if we can’t have her, then we’ll make sure she comes to us.” Kenneth the Sly barked. Tomas snapped from his trance and rushed at the house, stomping on the vines that failed to stop his bull rush (reflex 16 vs DC 15). As he passed by Havilah, she wacked at the brute with her hair (16 vs 17, 4/12 Tomas) out from seemingly nowhere. It stopped his charge so throughly that he was vaulted about ten feet away as he took the recoil and really leaned into it as though a performance. Now revealed, Hunter took aim, holding his arrow like a vicious kiss (nat 20, 21 dmg! -8/6 CON) The arrow lodged itself cleanly in her throat, clogging her airways with blood, and causing a violent **** spasm as she grasped at the shaft, her face turning a purpled hue. Her mouth agape trying to scream, but only gurgles of blood could flow from her lips. When her body lay motionless on the forest floor, the soil seemed o gulp her blood as though it were a nectar. The moonlight shone on her as a virtuous omen.

The three watched. Disgust colored their faces. None of them had planned on killing the blossoming flower of the hamlet. “Hunter, you Imp! You killed her! We were supposed to bind her!” Kenneth the Sly shouted.

“She wanted a fight, and would have killed us, I saved you Kenny.” Hunter replied cooly.

For awhile longer they continued to bicker over the blame. Tomas knelt down beside her body, and closed her eyelids, then stood up. “I didn’t agree to kill her, and I didn’t agree to fuck a corpse. We leave her.”

The three agreed tacitly, then left their quarry a broken mess. Her left arm cut by an arrow, her abdomen nicked by a blade, and her delicate neck pierced through leaving her mouth dried in blood. Her pale skin blended with the moonlight as the pallor went pale.

Havilah Hanusøvska, killed by three men she knew, who attacked her in the night.
