The Imperial Men-at-Arms, the central police force, do not all wear green coats; the guards for the High Office of the Censor for Literary Matters wear red, and the investigative units wear civilian clothing. By law, the uniforms of the regular flatfoots were green, then blue, then black, and following the reforms of ‘81 green again. Their actual gear tends to be a mish-mash of all of the above and often mixed with surplus Navy or army equipment.
