[Geodshield] Protect yourself from the Devilbolt

The woman's magic had no basis, no historical context-- it defied explanation. Sorcery to control the wind? A Devilbolt that mimicked the Geod-granted fire humankind's magicians had long utilized? None of it made any sense. In such a situation, the only thing you could rely upon was a perfect defense. You'd studied and trained for this moment, and now, your faith as a loyal member of the church would be fully tested. You clasped both hands in prayer and knelt to one knee, then beseeched your creator for his protection, now, when you need it the most!

"How pathetic! The true master, my dark lord, would never humble me to take a knee," Nil Riiche cackled, summoning up more and more black flames, until they nearly formed a spider's web. The net closed in on you, its trajectory telegraphed by a hundred tunnels of wind beating down upon your body. "You squires are an important part of our prophecy, too. I don't want to harm you. But one small sacrifice-- of a squire so foolish-- will surely be forgiven by my master. Hm hm hm hm!" She was practically drooling with sadistic excitement as her Devilbolts closed in.

Just in time, a bright barrier began to form around the clenched hands in front of you. Geod answered your prayers! The black bolts began to rain down upon you, but you didn't feel the flames, even as the ground around you became alarmingly scorched, with spilled wine lighting ablaze. Even the dirt seemed to catch fire.

"Oh? You must be very faithful," Nil Riiche cooed. "It will be my pleasure to shake that faith."{if Helmid = True}

"Sir Lavender! Please, get behind me!" Helmid begged, doing her best to march against the windstorm and reach you. "You can't continue to withstand such an attack! I've never seen anything like it!"{endif}{if Amulette = True}

"Ooooh? The mysterious maker of mankind has managed to make himself useful, hmmmm?" Amulette spoke from somewhere behind you. "I grant him my great gratitude! I command you: continue to counter her cockfoolery!"

Easier said than done!{endif}{if Rosary = True}

"Oh, Geod! I apologize for making you do my work for me! P-Please, try to hold on!" Rosary begged you, with tears in her eyes. She'd been trying to chant the same incantation, but you'd been a bit quicker... and thank Geod you were. You didn't think there was a moment to spare, waiting for that shield.{endif}{if Belit = True}

Belit was still trying to crawl from casket to casket, hoping to get around the wind tunnels, but she had no success. "Damn magician! This devil really doesn't fight fair!" she complained, frustrated at her own uselessness in this scenario. "Are you okay, Vin? Just tie her up for a bit longer and I'll get my knife in her, I swear!"{endif}{if Bangaal = True}

Bangaal clapped her hands excitedly. "Wow! Such stalwart strength, Lavender Vin! Bangaal had underestimated you, but to summon such a shield! That might even protect you from chaos magic, for a time!"

You weren't exactly thankful for the compliment. You needed an answer to Nil Riiche's strength, not compliments for temporarily weathering it!{endif}{if Liens = True}

"Fuck! Oh. You're alive. Okay. Good. I thought you were- Nevermind. Good," Liens acknowledged your safety, sounding at least a little relieved. "Do that again. While I think up a plan. Just give me a second longer. The damn wind. Shit! What an annoying attack! Son of a bitch!"

It didn't sound like Liens' characteristic luck was helping her much here, as she struggled to find footing in the windstorm.{endif}

You weren't sure how much longer you could hold out against attacks like Nil's, but you strengthened your shield for another blast.
