[Authors Note] Tone and Darkness

Hello, It's been over six months since I wrote this chapter, and since then I have had a lot of thoughts on it. I originally discussed it on the Harem Hotel discord (link in the first chapter) but I wanted to bring it up here as well, so I can finally get it off my mind.

My intention going in to this chapter was to make it the darkest point up till now, and I think I succeeded in that, but sometimes I fear I may have done so too well. While I stand by the challenge itself, I sometimes wonder if the elimination scene, as depicted was too much. I did receive some, likely justified criticism that I had crossed the line from darkness to utter hopelessness, or even **** porn, and it resulted in several people dropping the story outright.

In retrospect, it wasn’t exactly the darkness, but the way it was presented. It’s possible to be dark while also having fun.

I want to assure anyone reaching here for the first time that this is, as of the time of this writing, the most hopeless point this story gets. There is still hope and fun times going forward. That's not to say things get light and happy, there is plenty of darkness, some even darker, but there is also hope. I strive to find a balance between being a "darksider" and "lightsider" in the harem hotel thread, and hope you enjoy continue to follow this journey with me.

That being said, I also want to assure people that I will not be changing how I write to give it a different appeal. I plan to write what I want.
