(Show-runner's Notes) Progress Reports

28 June

Moved the Week 2 stuff to an archived page. Needing to split my publishing work today. The 3 real chapters are up and the 10(?) side things will get published later today. Got a couple of afternoon trips to the dungeon, some talent agency foreshadowing, and a fudged roll for y'all to enjoy. You gave Harper the darn thing; I have to make sure she uses it. The side things are going to be the expected list of dice rolls and the potentially unexpected updates to character sheets. I do update the sheets at every level up, but prepping them for publication here is a smidgen cumbersome.

4 July

Day 17 night-time and Day 18 (up to the end of the morning meeting) are up for your enjoyment. 5 chapters (one shorter than normal, a couple longer than normal) in total. Only roll I did for this section was an Arcana check by Harper to ID Beckie (rolled a full success [10]), so no need for side things this time.

Big file hit two-thirds of the way to 1000 pages something this week. Time to continue writing Tina's date. Enjoy.

11 July

Now we are back into the swing of things. Daytime portion of Tina's date is now up (4 chapters). I'll save the dice rolls for next time, but I did roll my way through the fight and the game. Next time, a college party and a delve. Enjoy.

Alright, I feel behind on my writing schedule, but I got my next batch of stuff (the rest of Tina's date and Day 19 to the morning meeting) up. 4 chapters (one longer than normal), with a couple of side things. One of the side things is the expected dice rolls for Day 18, the other is a call for a collab. So, if you are actively writing a branch and happen to be interested, give me a holler (either on that side thing or a message using the in-site messaging system). We are probably a few weeks away from me needing to make a more final decision on that thing, so we got a little time.

I now feel caught up on writing. Next batch (first part of Scarlet's date) is now up. The expected 4 chapters, no side stuff this time, unless me taking time to find a bunch of branch start points to hyperlink count as a side thing. By the way, you can't combine hyperlinks and italics in the editor here without it breaking stuff. Fun!

Also, Glitterdust complaints aren't meant to be criticism of other people's work. I get writing cadences. Not all of us are capable of writing a full chapter a day (me included), especially folk that split their focus on several stories at once (which I am definitely not wanting to begin attempting). I thought it might be interesting to have a repository of all of the branches that have a particular fetish appeal in it in one place. You know, providing citations.

Man, I have been at this for about 7 months at this point. The thought struck me as I was getting ready to add my notes. 4 chapters up, collectively a little longer than normal. The "evening" part of Scarlet's date. 3 side things. Need to get back to the new content writing. I feel behind from taking time to write some fan-mail. No matter.

Soooooo, for reasons that will become apparent shortly, my publication cadence for this week is going to be off. 1 chapter published tonight, more stuff (of some amount) published later this week. Spent most of my writing time working on a Dinah date thing (and spent most of the rest of my weekend writing time writing some immediate aftermath stuff). How much the usual Friday publication will depend on how much I can write during the week.

I am extremely tempted to give the fan-mail call another attempt, given I already have 3 sets of fan-mail reply responses (legolas just pushed out a second set of fan mail and I wrote a bunch of 'em) to stick in. I'll make a decision on that soon.

Just finished pushing my next chunk of chapters. A little shorter this time, with 3 chapters, but, to be somewhat fair, I usually only get 3 chapters out of the post-meeting daytime portion of a day. Dice rolls for the delve will be published with next week's shenanigans. Enjoy and thanks for continuing to put up with me!

5 September

Got the next set of chapters up. 4 chapters, with one a little shorter than normal and one considerably longer than normal; the usual 5 pages from the big file (which is rapidly approaching 850 pages) equaling 1 chapter would have meant splitting up the big foursome scene for no good reason. Dice roll side thing is also provided.

Next up, I get to both figure out what in next delve setting is going to be and basically run a one-shot campaign with myself for Aelene's date. Should be fun. Enjoy.

12 September

I'm about to start pushing my set of chapters this week out. 4 chapters, 3 a little longer than normal, 1 a little shorter. Again, just how the scenes fell this time. This time around, we have alliteration galore and grumbling bunnies at exercise. Dice roll thing with next week's stuff.

After this, gonna write a response to a reply before really working on next week's set in earnest. Is that the most productive use of my writing time? Nope, but it's where I'm inspired to write at the moment. Thanks for enjoying my nonsense.

19 September

Just finished pushing my chunk of chapters this week. Once again, 4 chapters, with 3 a little longer and 1 a little shorter. For the third week in a row, cutting things evenly would have resulted in cutting my big sex scene scene in half. Dice roll thing (super long this time; I really should have published last week's rolls last week) is also up, with a slight spoiler if you really want to scroll all the way to the end.

Now on to tweak reply responses in anticipation of publishing them next week. My goal this time is to be able to treat them as a side thing and still have a good chunk of regular content as well. We'll see how that goes.

26 September

Another publication push coming out shortly. This time, it's a big one. 4 chapters (daytime of Day 23), and a 3 chapter long side-thing of thank you letter responses. Thanks to XarHD once again for putting up with my nonsense. Enjoy!

3 October

Evening of Day 23 is now up, plus the dice roll side thingy. Sorry, only 3 chapters this time round. A combination of less happening and less writing time for me over last week. I guess the letter writing caught up with me (I lost some "I've been writing ahead of myself" padding). Go read those thank you letter replies if you haven't yet. I've been at this for 9 months at this point. Big file is basically at 920 pages (and nearly 500K words). Thanks for keeping up with my interweb babbling.

11 October

A good chunk of Day 24 daytime is now up. 4 chapters. Day 24 is probably going to end up having 6 chapters in total, but I'm still behind in writing, so I'll post the rest of the daytime chapters in next week's publication push. Enjoy.

18 October

And, with that, I just finished uploading my publication push today. 1 (longer than normal) chapter, plus 3 side things. Yeah, I'm disappointed in myself, too. Between a week of bad sleep, work being a little too stressful, and, I admit, fiddling too long with some AI slop, I did not get nearly enough writing done. While I won't actually use AI generated text (I may get around to figuring out AI art generation for the site, but it's not a big priority for me), I did get some pre-writing use out of it (specifically, forcing me to think through wasp-girl sex before writing a wasp-girl sex scene), so it wasn't a complete waste of time. Just should have spent more time, you know, actually writing.

Day 24 evening is only about a quarter of the way written at this point and I didn't think I should try to **** myself to plow through in time for a normal publication amount. So, the end of Day 24, featuring a bunch of combat, plus the expected dice roll side thing and the Honey side things I should have released last week, is up.

A little bit about combat scenes. I am rolling every single fight out, so each combat scene takes a considerable amount of time. I think the Mattie scene fight from today's chapter was 3 hours of rolling (thinking through turns, rolling dice, doing clicky clacky math rock computations, consulting books to translate spells into the dice system I am using), plus another maybe hour of writing and editing. So, both of my big writing sessions this week were mostly spent with my dice tray in front of my computer and flipping through manuals.

I'll get back on track. Enjoy what I got done at least!

25 October

Much closer to back into the saddle with this week's publication push. 3 chapters, 1 a little longer, plus 1 side thing. I did end up getting about 18 pages written for this week, but felt it was complete enough evening with what I published. I moved a page's worth of writing (one scene) to next week instead of needing to do a weird split in the middle of the long date sex scene to squeeze out a fourth chapter.

The side thing is important to note. It's a poll to help influence my decision making process when I get around to writing the endgame challenges. Please participate. Enjoy!

1 November

As much as I'd like to say that I was just waiting to see what the poll results were before publishing, that would be a bit of a lie. Between another week of really poor sleep (and some subsequent issues with motivation), I had about 2 chapters worth of stuff written as of this morning. A lot of talky talk, more sex than normal for morning chapters, the main thrust of the date will start next week. 3 chapters up, no side thing.

Speaking of the (frankly, tiny sample size) poll, I am happy and surprised by the results. It was the result I wanted, but I was expecting something different. I'll keep it in mind when I start writing final challenge content in a couple of weeks.

Hopefully, I'll find some motivation to get back in the swing of things soon. End game is starting soon. Stay tuned!

7 November

So, I got the next batch of chapters out. 3 of them, one longer than "usual", plus the predictable dice roll side thing. The evils of daylight savings continued my bad sleep schedule. To be fair, the only scenes in my head I really only left out were more "girls at the Hotel talk about the post-game future" scenes. Probably wasn't going to get a whole 'nuther chapter out of it.

A warning: I have a family thing to drive to and from this weekend, so I imagine next week's batch will still be too short. In my head, I am only expecting to get the final morning written through the meeting and then brief set-ups for the 7 bespoke contestant challenges.

Next week, we will also have some polls to post/vote in. Probably the last polls of the season. Stay tuned!

15 November

As predicted, losing a weekend of writing time (and the sheer effort of handling that last bit of leveling absorbing quite a bit of writing time over the week) resulted in a shorter than usual publication push (and I am splitting it into two sections, since it is almost time for the gym for me). Both of the chapters I got done this week, plus the poll side thing, are up. I will also get the whole slew of character sheet updates posted later today (for those wanting to see all the feature and equipment updates).

Now I get to start writing final challenge attempts. This'll be fun. No idea how many weeks it's going to take. I'm shooting for a proper chapter for each contestant, plus a chapter for Harper's final part. Little worried that I might not have enough content for a couple of them, but we'll see. Everything is still in "prewriting in my head" mode. Stay tuned.

21 November

This is it. First proper week of Endgame Challenge! Assuming I keep up the pace, it's going to take 3 publication pushes. Then again, I took the upcoming week off of work for Thanksgiving, so I might get more writing done than I expect. Here is the schedule:

• Pretty shortly after I get this progress report up: First 3 challenge attempts
• Next week (around 28 November): Challenge attempts 4-6
• Week after that (around 5 December): Last challenge attempt for the contestants, Harper's phase
• Week after that one (around 12 December): Final ceremony, Wish, start of epilogue
• After that, epilogue pushes until I am satisfied I set up my second season (don't know how long that'll take).

After all of that, I take a break publishing stuff for a bit (outside of sending letters and whatnot) to get the opening chapters of my second season polished enough to show off. I have plans.

I decided against doing the dice roll side things, as I am needed to grab a bunch of bespoke homebrew stat blocks to convert (yes, someone DID make a DnD 5th edition Abrams Tank homebrew monster stat block) and don't really want to do all of that extra typing. I did still roll everything out, though. Who remembers all of these minor characters?

28 November

Part 2 of the Endgame Just released. As I scheduled above, it's 3 more challenge chapters. I'm currently most of the way through the final contestant challenge now. Once again, no dice-rolling side things. While none of the monsters were conversions of homebrew monsters, there was still a lot of conversions going on in my head (seriously, evil Skye was kind of a pain to convert, since I mashed together a Yochlol and a Drow High Matron stat block together).

I also got a good chunk of my season's stuff up on the Network wiki (with sometimes decently rendered AI art), if you are so inclined. Pages are getting updated as I find the spare time/energy.

Next week, we wrap up the Endgame. And I finally figured out the personal portion of the wish, after having known the final results for two weeks. It is so obvious, in retrospect. Surprised it took me this long to figure it out.

5 December

Third (and final) part of the Endgame challenge just dropped, with 3 more chapters, one a little shorter than normal (I expected Beckie to last longer than she did, I guess), and one with some bonus epilogue teaser action going on. And, believe it or not, Glitterdust was arguably the MVP of the day.

Next week, Final Ceremony (and a chapter or two of epilogue stuff), assuming the crick don't rise. You got a whole week to speculate on who won, if you want. Enjoy.

12 December

And, with that, 11 months of writing results in the Final Ceremony. I can't believe I actually finished the main story. Epilogue will probably run for a while, as I got quite a bit of set up to get done before "the sequel" (which hopefully doesn't instantly piss the vast majority of the audience off). 3 chapters, all of which are longer than normal. Seriously, I ended up with like 23 pages of text in the main file for this week's push and I normally shoot for 5 pages from the main file for each chapter. The Final Ceremony's 8 pages were partially explained by a bunch of lists taking up excess space, but the epilogue chapters either was going to split like 6 pages, 6 pages, 3ish pages or just in half like I chose to do.

20 December

Epilogue continues today. 4 chapters of stuff, a little longer than normal, which wraps up the (maybe?) final bits of fighting and starts to get everyone settled for the sequel. I was planning on interweaving the events at the monastery from Scarlet's date and the mining town from Aelene's date together, but decided to separate them (as I was less engaged to write the mining town stuff and really only had one scene written until late last night). That means you all get the (probably in retrospect, kind of obvious) wish reveal a week earlier than I thought.

I also did a first grammar pass through the earlier chapters, getting all the way to the start of Scarlet's third date. In the process, I did a few small, quiet adjustments to remove some discontinuities. The joys of developing characters as you write. The goal is to get at least a couple of full passes done before Marcie and Gina tear me apart (not going to let my possible dyslexia get me dinged for weird random word flips if I can avoid it).

Epilogue continues. 3 chapters, a little longer than normal. Good news: I wrote 5-6 chapters worth of epilogue stuff over the week. Bad news: could only really use about half of it for tonight; the other half involves collab stuff with others that I am waiting on. So, that stuff is on the back burner. Still have some epilogue stuff to go. Again, I'm unsure how many more weeks of epilogue stuff I'll end up doing.

My grammar pass is continuing, though I did a lot less of it this week than last. Only got to the middle of Aelene's date. I don't remember any content changes (unlike the couple of minor ones last time), but I'm fixing weird random word and tense issues as I find them.

So, epilogue continues. 2 chapters this time. Again, I know, but, between not having enough time to write last weekend, not having the motivation to write at all over the week, and knowing I don't have enough time to knock out a bunch of chapters this weekend (where family is doing Christmas stuff and I really should be heading over there like 10 minutes ago), I just did not have enough in the tank for a normal sized push.

My grammar pass hit the start of the epilogue, which is probably where I should stop the first pass through. I'll start the second pass sooner or later. Reading all three weeks in pretty rapid succession should hopefully help me catch other fiddly mistakes and inconsistencies for the second go round (I know I need to do a VP point notification consistency pass).

Anyways, enjoy the weird hodge-podge of fan-mail responses.

2 more chapters, a wedding day. I think I have one more dose of epilogue before I take a publishing break to prep sequel stuff? I mean, I COULD write several more wedding chapters, but, eh? We'll see.

So, a little bit a year ago is when I started this and today is my final publication push for this branch. 3 chapters, plus the links to and from the Andy party from months ago. A long, strange trip this little writing project has been. I think I am ready to take a little publication break to start working on the sequel branch (which was kind of the goal of the epilogue, to be frank).

I'll still be around the site and doing collab things as they pop up (got a couple already in the works, if you have been paying attention to some other branches). I still need to do a second grammar / consistency pass through (which will be a bunch of silent edits), but I am mostly going to take a little pause from the weekly content push to start writing. If I remember right, I sat on my starting chapters for months before I committed to launching; not sure how long I will be quietly writing before I start pushing the sequel branch out (I am actually planning on doing a Round Zero TF vote this time around, so I can't write half of Week 1 like I did last time) but I'm going to take some time to do that.
