Chapter 13 by CharlestheCrungo

Are they able to get away safely?

Yes, but also not really.

The team left the saferoom rather quickly, at first their plan was to take the streets, but Julie recommended they go to the roof instead. Sometime before the Army withdrew, someone had set up several makeshift bridges along many of the rooftops. They were somewhat more safe than taking the streets, as Pseudosects could easily attack down there, but on the roofs they would have a clearer view. After giving it a quick thought, the Captain agreed and the team made their way to the roof.

Along the way they saw the destruction caused by the Breaker smashing its way to the safe house. Rebecca whistled at the sight, "Damn, Team 2 sure picked a good name for that fucker, it really went to town on this place."

Alexis nodded in agreement, "imagine trying to fight that thing without any explosives or heavy weapons. If there are more of them, I wonder if any safe houses could be considered 'safe'..."

"Cut the chatter, we need to hurry." Captain Maynard was deeply concerned, as she had received extensive reports on all manner of Pseudosects her team may encounter, but there was no mention of anything like this Breaker. Were the Pseudosects evolving? And if so, were they changing on their own or was Dr. Shaw behind this? She felt a strange sense of foreboding about the mission now, but all she could do was continue on.

Exiting out onto the roof, Julie and the team were relieved to see no Pseuodosects. Perhaps they did not hear the commotion from the Breaker? Either way there was no time to waste. Captain Maynard and Alexis took point, with Julie and Olivia in the middle and Rebecca covering the rear. There were two make shift bridges and Julie pointed them to the one that would lead towards the rendezvous sight. Julie knew the way pretty well as she had come this way not too long ago and she knew that there would not be too many Pseudosect nests along the way. If they were swift they should be able to get to their destination no problem. But unfortunately for the team, nothing could be easy in the quarantine zone.

About ten minutes after leaving the safe house the team was crossing one of the rooftop bridges. It was quite rickety, and Captain Maynard they would cross one at a time. Captain Maynard and Alexis went first and successfully crossed, and Olivia was up next, and was halfway across. Rebecca was guarding the rear with Julie. As they were waiting, Julie heard a faint noise from the side, and when she turned to look she saw a swarm of Brood Flies darting towards the team. There was around a dozen and a half of them, each one with it's ovipositor extended and ready to impregnate them. "T-To the left! Pseudosects!" She hastily called out.

Rebecca was the first to respond, quickly turning and letting off a burst of her rifle, catching two and killing them. Captain Maynard and Alexis joined in, letting off well controlled bursts against the swarming bugs. But from around the corners of the building came more of them. They must have had a nest nearby, and their scouts alerted the others of new prey. "Get across now! Move!" The Captain shouted. Olivia hurriedly crossed while the other's laid down covering fire, but for each one slain, more would replace them. To make matters worse, because Olivia had rushed to cross the rickety bridge it snapped, and the medic just barely manage to reach the other side.

The swarm split in two, with one larger half going after Captain Maynard, Alexis, and Olivia, while a smaller group rushed towards Julie and Rebecca. Julie lifted her pistol and fired at the swarm, killing a few alongside Rebecca, but there were too many. From the other side Captain Maynard yelled across, "Retreat! Rebecca, take Julie and try to link up, we need to get away from the nest!" Rebecca shouted an acknowledgement, and pushed Julie back. "Go, I will cover you, move!" She pointed at a rooftop door, indicating they should escape into the building. Julie nodded and rushed towards the door with Rebecca firing behind her. She got halfway to the door when she heard a strangled cry. Turning to look back she saw a Brood Fly had gotten ahead of the rest and latched onto Rebecca's face, plunging it's ovipositor down her **** mouth and starting to roughly fuck her face. The rest of the swarm was closing fast.... She could help Rebecca, but the rest of the swarm might catch her if she stops to save her....

Does she help the Redhead?
