Chapter 16 by leroy leroy

What does she ask?

"mind helping me make dinner?"

You were glad that she didn't seem to hold a grudge and that you could help her in another way. You seriously doubted that Lily or Gwen would have an issue with you helping out with the cooking.

"Sure." You agreed, stepping aside so that she could lead you to the kitchen. It wasn't too far, away but as you stepped inside you were **** to deal with a slight problem. You had no idea how to cook. Despite the way you had turned her down Adi was more than willing to help you. She quickly taught you how to prepare the ingredients for the meat and vegetable stew that was for dinner. The fact that Lily and Gwen kept their children meant there would be a lot of mouths to feed, making the dish a perfect choice.

A little while later Violet came in after finishing some tasks of her own and settled down next to you to help skin some native Viking vegetable whose name you had no hope of pronouncing. For a little while you made small talk, you learned a bit about Viking society and told a bit about your own before Violet finally got to the subject she'd been working towards, how the Viking training worked.

"I get to start my training in this cycle. Mom wanted me to go to another Jarl to avoid claims of favoritism but there weren't any other free spots. The only reason I was able to get in here was because one of the originals got pregnant and had to drop." She finished her current vegetable and set its relevant parts into the bin Adi was slowly adding ingredients from. The rest went into the currently unused fabricator where it could be converted into a number of different foods whenever things were too busy for cooking to take place.

"My mothers have been training me up a bit already so i'll have a slight edge over the ones who don't have any training at all but that'll get balanced out when they assign teams." Another vegetable was finished while you were still on your first, this was obviously an acquired skill. "Valkyrie and Amazon are their names, we'll be evenly split into two teams of twenty. Over the week there will be sparring and contests to help build up teamwork and competitiveness between the two. At the end of each week we'll fight in a mock battle, then they get the next day off with the losers being the winners slaves." You finally finished your own vegetable and grabbed another there were only a few left.

"Getting knocked up would kind of interfere after the first month so sex is limited to what you can do with your mouths, or breasts." She said, giving you a wink after a look at your chest. "We get them verified as real battles, just with conditionals. We haven't had an issue yet so nobody can accuse of maliciously violating the law." You weren't entirely convinced of that but you were willing to let it slide for now. The Vikings obviously had their own way of doing things.

"After month one, things get more serious. The Jarls will start having scheduled battles every two weeks. For us it'll be the same rules as the weekly battles but for my mom, its full rules for the rest of the training cycle. The winning Jarl will also take over the training of the losing Jarl's class. It's meant to make sure that we're getting the best training." The two of you finished your vegetables at the same time and grabbed the final pair of them. "At the end the Jarls who are left standing will be divided into two teams for Ragnarok. A full real battle where we get actual combat armor. The Swiss like to use us as a training opportunity for their new armorers. At the end the Jarls are freed but the losing side isn't. Supposedly its meant to help teach both consequences and the rewards of victory." She finished her vegetable. and stood up. "They call it the great match maker. Lots of folks either marry someone from their training class or the one they were paired with from Ragnarok. It worked for my parents but I don't think I'll want to settle down like that."

Adi had obviously been listening in. "Right, because our parents are soooo settled down." She pointed out, Violet rolled her eyes at her sister's butting in.

"You know what I mean, I don't want to get married to someone I trained with or owned from my own world. I want something more exotic!" She said, obviously confident in Ragnarok's result.

"What about someone who owned you for five months? Just because mom's not been on the losing side for the past 8 years doesn't mean she won't get unlucky. Besides, that's not how love works. You don't always get to choose." The two of them had obviously had this conversation before. You finally finished your last vegetable and put it up.

"Just because-"

"Don't go there." Adi cut her sister off quickly with a measure of anger you hand't expected. Obviously Violet knew better than to 'go there' and she raised her hands up in surrender.

"Alright, alright. Do you need me for anything else?" She asked, obviously offering peace which Adi accepted.

"No, i'll finish up here. The two of you can go. I'll see you at dinner." Adi turned back towards the preparation of the food, tasting it and putting in more spices after finding it unsatisfactory.

As you and Violet exited the room together she turned to you. "Well that was fun, sorry about that bit at the end." She looked back towards the kitchen with a bit of regret, she obviously hadn't meant to stir up her sister in that way. "Want me to give you a proper tour of the grounds? Or come spar with me a bit?" She asked

What do you do?
