"Yes, Mommy"

You are lead upstairs to a small bedroom with a white canopy bed and a little dresser, matching and decorated with little pink hearts. There is a fluffy pink carpet on the floor and the curtains over the window are white, and lacy with little pink polka dots.

Against one wall, you see a table with a pad on it and a pail next to it. Underneath, you see a stack of cloth diapers. It's a diaper changing table.

This is going to be your room?

"That bed is only big enough for one person," you say, confused. "Where is Rebeccah going to sleep?"

Rebeccah's mother gives a little chuckle as though you just said something silly.

"You can't sleep in the same bed! You aren't married," she says. "And no hanky-panky under my roof. I may be old fashioned, but if you are going to live under my roof, you'll have to go by my rules, and that means waiting until you're married."

"And even after you're married, not here. Not in my house," she adds.

Rebeccah's mother stands expectantly, with her hands on her hips.
