"What is the status of our military?"[Military Unleashed]
"What is the status of our military? I am curious to see how the army will be allocating the funds you requested for in our Cabinet meeting."
Serrano's sharp gaze lingered on her for a moment before he leaned back in his chair, his hands clasped in front of him. "The situation is... tenuous, Presidente. We face an enemy that is both ruthless and cunning, and our resources are stretched thin, even with your generous funding. So far, most of it has been directed primarily towards fortifying key locations—government buildings, military installations, and, of course, the Palacio del Sol. Additionally, we are conducting loyalty assessments among the men, particularly the reserves we are calling up. We have to ensure that in our eagerness to bolster our ranks, we do not let any of these communist infiltrators slip through the cracks."
He paused, taking a deep breath, his eyes hardening.
"However, I believe I promised to conduct a general offensive on the guerillas. I am a man of my word, Presidente, and I will deliver results. Even as we speak, 4 of our Jungle Infantry Brigades have begun their advance into enemy territory, encircling and trapping the guerillas. We have choppers in the sky, identifying key targets such as supply depots and command centres. By nightfall, once the rats have slithered back into their dens, our artillery boys are going to rain hellfire and bring the house down upon their heads. We just got our hands on a bunch of shiny new toys from the Americans after they came back from Vietnam, and the boys are eager to test them out."
As General Serrano described the plan, his face lit up, a smile crossing his lips. Despite his rank and desk job, he was still a soldier at heart, one that delighted in breaking things and hurting people.
"It is a bold plan, General. But, remind me, how did the war in Vietnam end?"
Serrano's smile turned into a scowl, his expression darkening. "It's a different war, a different place. You should not compare, Presidente. The Americans were fighting on foreign shores, dying for the sins of a distant country, when we are defending our own homes. I'll turn the jungle into a wasteland before I let those commies take it. That I can promise you."
"I commend your patriotism, General. But remember, this is my land that you are destroying. I have no wish to rule a nation of ruins."
Serrano simply shrugged.
