Chapter 6 by Guforess Guforess

Oscar has a lot of questions. Which one does he ask first?

"What are you?"

"Have you heard of a dullahan?" Lorraine's head spoke as her body grabbed it by the ponytail, lifting it in the air before placing it back onto her neck, the gaping slit between head and neck practically disappearing as she set it back.

"I... Might have heard about it when visiting my distant relatives back when I was quite young. Apparently they're sort of headless horseman-like figures, riding their steeds through the darkness of the night. Stuff of legends, though as we've both seen, legends are now reality." Oscar thought back to his childhood, and the wild stories his relatives told him.

"Quite right. Dullahan are a race of spirits that can detach their heads. From what the organization told me, people in some parts of the world fear us as harbingers of ****, though I can most certainly assure you that is not the case. Though what has a bit more accuracy, however, is our relation to the burial places of evil aristocrats. " Lorraine sat on the couch, putting her luggage at the side, as Oscar started to do the same.

"While not all evil, most dullahan are aristocrats in the world of what you call" monster girls". This is because they are one of the higher orders of spirits, able to manifest a solid body and comprehensible form. Our ability to shift from intangible to solid is proof of power for spirits, thus we're treated like the higher class." Lorraine elaborated.

So that explains her manner of speech and behavior, Oscar started to realize. "But if you're part of the upper class in your world, what are you doing in this dump? My apartment is probably a commoner's home by your standards." He wondered.

"That is because being part of the upper class can get rather... Boring. Having to attend social gatherings all day, keeping up appearances... It takes a toll, even on those trained to do so from manifestation. Thus, when the portal opened, I decided to apply to stay with a human in their home simply to see how the human world is like and how humans live. Just like how it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for you, so is it for me. Except that the term "life" would not be exactly appropriate for me." She finished her explanation with a joke, giving a dignified giggle that she must have done over and over so many times it became a habit for her.

So the noble is tired of the aristocrat life and wants to mingle with the peasants, sounds like a good story, Oscar thought to himself, still trying to get over the fact that he was in the presence of nobility even if they weren't human.

Now that Oscar knows a little more about his guest, what happens next?
