Chapter 6 by jw_wjw jw_wjw

How does Debbi begin her campaign?

"The Naked Truth"

"I've got an idea," Jeff proposed, "we tell everyone in Collingsworth the 'naked truth' of the government, and use Debbi as our model."

"What do you mean?" Debbi countered "The government have got a clean record - well, clean enough, anyway - I doubt we could do more damage than the opposition."

"I think that is just splendid," Diane rejoined, "we should have Debbi parade on High Street in just a sandwich board detailing the sins of the government."

"What sins?" Debbi insisted yet again, "I would gather the opposition have done enough work as it is, I doubt we lot can do much more."

"Au contraire, mon cheri," Diane butted in, "consider the rates."

"What about them?"

"They've not changed at all since the last election," Jeff responded.

"Okay, do they need to be higher or lower?" Debbi asked quizzically.

"I just think they ought to be different, that's all." If Jeff's repetitious inanity in politics had one positive, it was that Debbi was able to forget her condition, a fact that was not lost on Diane as the two bickered on politics in a fashion only pubgoers could do.

"All right, Jeff, what about the Lords?"

"There need to be more of them, yeah. Every Englishman a Lord!"

Debbi sighed in defeat. "Alright, I guess I'll just be parading in the altogether and some posters on High Street,"

"Brilliant!" Diane jumped back in and cheered. "I'll print out all the materials. Don't worry, we're all three candidates."

"Yippy..." Debbi cheered sarcastically. "See you in the office on Monday, then?"

"No, actually," Jeff butted in, "I've got Carol working the office for us, so all of us will be busy the next two weeks campaigning until election day. We'll see you again outside this pub at 8 on Monday, just for the commuters."

"That sounds reasonable..." Debbi conceded and reached down the table before seeing what was missing. "Hey! Where are my clothes?"

"Not on your body till election day," Diane grinned in Cheshire feline fashion, "and you'd better be dressed for the occasion come Monday. Ta-ta!"

Debbi just huffed and stormed out of the pub and to her flat. Not bothering getting dressed, she fell into the best sleep she'd ever had.

How does Monday go?
