"Sorry, you can't skip school"

I can't believe what I'm hearing right now.

"Mom, seriously? You're going to make me go to school naked?" I ask, shocked my mother is even remotely fine with this.

"I'm not making you go to school naked Em, I'm just making you go to school. I'm just saying that you WILL be going to school, no matter what you're wearing. We didn't raise a slacker." my mom retorts.

"But I'm naked now! And all of you just told me you weren't giving me clothes! Where the hell am I going to get clothes if I don't own any, and the people who do refuse to give them to me?" I whine.

"I don't know! That's not our problem. But you will be going to school, no matter what you're wearing." my mother says firmly.

"I still think you should show up naked anyway." Ashley chimes in again, through a mouthful of waffle. I shoot her a **** glare.

"I'm not going. Do you have any idea how embarrassing it would be for all my friends and classmates to see me like this?" I ask.

"Did you think about that when you gave your sister all of your clothes?" my mother questions back. "And yes you will, young lady, and I'll drag you all the way there if that's what it takes!" That sounds like an exaggeration but we live literally just a five minute walk from my high school, so it's not as crazy as it sounds.

This isn't going anywhere. I groan and storm out of the kitchen, and back to my room, still uncovered for my family to see.

Was I seriously about to go to school stark naked? I can't believe that's even allowed, but ever since the courts decided that since some people couldn't afford clothes, some were religious nudists, and because of a few other stupid reasons that outlawing nudity was a violation of the Bill of Rights or something. So now nudity is allowed anywhere on public property. Which of course includes school. That doesn't make it normal, though. Not once have I seen anyone naked in public, whether at school or anywhere. Because it's still fucking weird and embarrassing for 99% of people.

Which makes me think. Maybe mom and dad are just dragging this out as long as possible to teach me a lesson, and they'll give me something to wear just before the bus shows up. They've always been reasonable people before, why would they do something this outrageous now? It doesn't make sense. Now that I think about it, that's probably it. I mean, what kind of parent thinks sending their daughter to school naked is a good idea?

I decide that this must be the case, and a wave of relief flows over me. Instead of looking for clothes, I conclude that taking a shower would be a better use of my time if I'll be getting clothes anyway.

I head to the bathroom, not bothering to shut the door, and turn on the shower. My shower is pretty quick, taking only a few minutes. I turn off the shower and towel off, and wrap the towel around myself. Why didn't I think of wearing the towel earlier? Oh well, can't do anything about that.

I blowdry my hair and then straighten it, just like I do every day. I put on just a little bit of makeup, and walk out of the bathroom in the towel. Just on the off chance my parents were serious about their threat, it couldn't hurt to at least have the towel to protect my goods from becoming public knowledge.

I walk towards the stairs, but notice Ashley is in her room on her phone. Maybe I can ask one last time for some clothes before I leave, again just in case mom and dad are actually serious.
