Chapter 34 by fantaghiro
What's next?
"Nah. I think I'm best just hanging back here. It's safer that way."
"Nah. I think I'm best just hanging back here," you told her. "It's safer that way."
It was only after she looked away rather awkwardly and told you that she'd better go find Shawna that it dawned on you what exactly she'd been getting at. She had clearly been wanting you to dance with her - not with Danny and Chris! You'd just been too darn stupid to notice!
Fuck! you groaned as you watched her then disappear into the crowd, your head collapsing into your hands, ...I'm such a fucking idiot!
She really couldn't have made it that more obvious if she'd tried (other than just straight up asking you of course), and this was presumably the whole reason she'd come up to talk to you in the first place. No wonder she'd looked so disparaged and disappointed as she left. You'd totally snubbed her! If Randall had been here he would be slapping you round the face right now, just as you felt like doing to yourself. Why the fuck did I say "no"?!
After that, things just went from bad to worse, being unable to get over what a complete moron you'd been and feeling like you'd really blown it. Allison avoided you for the rest of the night, and you admittedly did the same. Instead just sitting on the bleachers replaying the exchange over in your head. Imagining different outcomes as you watched her from afar, dancing away with her friends. You didn't share any of this with Danny or Chris though, not really feeling comfortable enough with either of them. Not like you did with Randall...
Speaking of which, where was your wing-man when you needed him? No doubt having a blast with his new grown up friend's. The trials and tribulations of a couple of teenagers at a high school dance presumably meaning very little to him now. He had far more important things to worry about.
Returning home later that night, after the dance had wound down, you immediately jumped face first onto your bed.
So what if I never danced with her? It's not the end of the world, you tried to convince yourself. Pretty sure that if you had gone and danced, you would have ended up making an even bigger fool out of yourself than you had already done. Having made fun of Randall for his dancing skills, but being pretty sure that yours were nearly as bad. And even if I hadn't, I'd have found some other way to mess it up. Allison Lowry's not gonna want to go out with me. She was super popular - on the cheer leading squad for God sake. Who were you? Just some nobody who kept to himself and played video games all day. That was the main reason why you and Beth had split up. Because you weren't "outgoing enough", and she was nowhere near in Allison's league.
Consoling yourself with this fact then and checking your phone one last time to see if there was anything yet from Randall (as well as drooling once more over his picture), you decided to cut your losses and call it a night. Lumping this particular school dance firmly in the category marked disaster. Telling yourself that you'd never go to another one of these things again as long as you lived. Not ever.
When Friday morning came, you had still received no word from Randall - having expected to have heard something by now. Maybe he's nursing another killer hangover, you thought as you got yourself ready for school. Not really looking forward to that much either.
It turned out to be pretty non eventful truth be told. Danny and Chris spent most of the day laughing about their exploits on the dance floor the previous night, as well as Danny's little make out session with a tenth grader - Chris teasing him mercilessly when it all came out. As for Allison, you didn't really see her. Other than a brief, if incredibly awkward little exchange of hello's on the way to Math.
It wasn't until you returned home, glad that it was now the weekend, that you finally heard from your friend. Calling you up, not five minutes after you'd walked through the door.
"Hey, dude. How's it going? How was the dance? You get any action?" he asked, firing question after question at you.
You played it down at first, not really wanting to go into the whole Allison thing just yet, and instead simply told him that it was "as lame as always", being more curious right now as to how his night went.
"Was weird as hell, I gotta say," he told you. "Haven't been to a Halloween party since like the sixth grade, and this was way different from that. This Claudia chick... friend of Aisha's... she's got one huge fucking house! And she was all like serving champagne and had her own freaking bar tender and DJ and shit. Was pretty crazy. Fun though." Adding quickly, "You know, after I got a few drinks in me."
This was definitely a much different experience from your night. Sounding a like one of those parties you only ever saw on TV. "Cool. And how did the Zatanna look go down? That pic you sent me was pretty awesome."
"Like three people knew who I was," he laughed, you having expected as much, "Three guys! Everyone else thought I was a showgirl or something. But damn did I make one sexy Zatanna. Mads did an epic job on that one. ...Actually, give me a sec and I'll send you a few pics. Got some pretty decent ones early on. After that, everything got a little blurry. Fortunately the hangover wasn't quite so bad this time as it was the last." That did admittedly seem like it would be pretty hard to top.
Sending you the pictures, you eagerly examined them all, feeling your cock twitch as you looked upon Randall's gloriously dressed body. He looked so good that you kind of wished he would dress like that all the time - it being incredibly geeky as it was a comic book character, but devastating sexy at the same time. One thing you did notice that you hadn't been able to spot before was that Randall had also been wearing a pair of black leather thigh high boots. It adding yet another hint of sexy to the costume.
Agreeing with this statement, he then took the opportunity to point out some of the down sides. The corset in particular taking a while to get used to. "Pinched like a bitch and God knows how my boobs actually stayed in there!" he explained - you having been wondering the exact same thing yourself. His two giant melons looking as if they are about to bust out at any second. "Though there was a hell of a lot of dudes there that probably wished they hadn't. I'm kind of beginning to see why chicks get angry at guys who never look them in the eye when they talk."
"Yeah..." you agreed, only half listening. Being guilty right now of doing exactly what he was saying - your eyes fixed on your Auntie's breasts in the photos.
Chatting for a while about other notable things that had happened, as well as how good Aisha and Mads had looked in their costumes too, he then turned his attention back to you and the dance. Finally hitting on the question of Allison and if anything had actually happened.
"Yes... and no," you informed him, feeling slightly **** about telling him, after what a seemingly epic night he himself had had.
After a little further prodding though, it eventually all came out. Filling Randall in on what an ass you'd made of yourself and how your chances with Allison were now pretty much nil.
"Shit, dude. That sucks big time. You really should have just danced."
"Well I realize that now," you told him. This having been pretty much all you'd been thinking about since last night. "But at the time... I dunno, I guess I kind of spaced out or something. Besides, I can't dance to save myself! I'm nearly as bad as you!"
"Don't you mean, nearly as bad I used to be?" he quickly corrected. "I can totally get my groove on in this body. Not that woman really have to do all that much. They just have to wiggle their hips a bit to look sexy."
"Yeah, well maybe you'll have to give me a lesson sometime or something," you joked. Less for your own benefit and more just so you could see that curvy body of his move.
Telling you then that you should come on over tomorrow and he will, you laughed and told him that you were only joking, but not before asking if he still had his Zatanna costume.
"Sorry, dude. Mads needed the stuff back. Only got the pictures now."
This was admittedly rather disappointing, but after talking a little more about Allison and what had happened - Randall sharing his sympathies and trying to assure you that you weren't quite out of the game yet - you then agreed to meet up tomorrow lunchtime. Repeating all the while that he'd get you to dance yet...

The Ultimate Transplant
Someone you know is given a new body & life
PLEASE ADD CHAPTERS! A close friend or family member is horribly injured in an accident. As they lay dying in the emergency room, another patient dies of a brain aneurysm. Both of them are organ donors, so a surgeon decides it's the perfect opportunity for him to try an experimental surgery. He transplants the victim's higher brain (the cerebellum) to the donor's body in an attempt to 'save' a life. Amazingly it works. But the surgery was not approved so the hospital convinces the families to keep quiet, arguing that revealing this operation to the public would bring never-ending media attention to all involved. That means that the patient will have to publicly assume the identity of the donor. What will this mean to your friends and family? Who else will you tell? Although you will spend a lot of time and effort giving support, how will all this alter your relationship to the patient? And how will he or she adapt to a complete change of body and identity? Many transformation stories focus on the change or victim, so I thought it would be interesting to instead have the POV be someone who sees the change from the outside. Writers feel free to explore a change in age, gender, class or ethnicity - and the repercussions that change would have on the main character (and others).
