Chapter 33 by Verdant_Hatchling Verdant_Hatchling

What favor?

"I'll kill them first."

Badrazan lifted his hand towards the castle, a sickly blast rising from his grasp, and before Cassius's very eyes, with him unable to move an inch, the blast reached the castle.

And what Cassius saw left him utterly horrified, the miniscule blast growing into an empty void, completely engulfing the castle.

Tears formed in his eyes, as Cassius fell to his knees, leaving an undeterred Badrazan to begin razing the kingdom.

And to his shame, it took Cassius over ten minutes to snap out of it, and shoot to his feet, rushing Badrazan from a mile away, finally halting his destruction.

Overcome by rage, Cassius began to beat the Arc-Balor with all his might, and, unfortunately, at the cost of his surroundings.

After over two days of fighting, Cassius was standing above the mangled form of Badrazan, a sinister glare overbearing on his face, as he reached his hands towards the Demon’s neck, and upon wrenching it closed, cutting off the creature’s air, Cassius cast Greater Holy Bomb.

This spell he hadn’t wanted to use, but now? It didn’t matter. As he looked around, his home, the place he’d promised to protect, was gone.

And so, a strikingly unfamiliar mushroom cloud of a Holy light flashed into existence, quickly burning the flesh of Badrazan to cinders, but Cassius wasn’t spared, nor was his precious kingdom, but that one had, unfortunately, already been culled.

Cassius had cast the spell with his body as the origin, so as his form was the center, he was exposed to a significant portion of the flames of the Bomb, his skin was slowly sloughing from his form in blistered fragments, healing over time, but with the constant exposure, and as he wasn’t present enough to move, the process continued for nearly an hour, before the effects of the spell began to recede.

Badrazan’s broken body fell to the ground, and despite the fact the spell had singed the entire outer layer of skin from his form, he was struggling to stand again.

And a distraught, nearly deranged Cassius stood above the maimed Badrazan, a cold, demented stare was on his face. He reeled his head back and released an inhuman roar, inflicting a sense of fear in every being in its range, but one in particular felt a painful presence appear.

Cassius, in his moment of pain and suffering, felt his consciousness leave his body, and before he could comprehend it he moved.

...

He was brought before a shimmering woman.

“Hello, my child. I have seen your troubles, and you have my greatest sympathies for what has transpired, but as I have ascended, my influence over the mortal world has dwindled over my thousands of years of god-hood. What say you, my child?”

“Wh… Why didn’t you save them? They’d worshipped you for their entire lives, but we were just, fodder. They were just victims of my incompetence, of your…” He couldn't bring himself to continue, to blame the being who’d gifted it all to him in the first place.

“I can feel your rage towards me, and I… I don’t blame you, my child. I wish I could change what happened but my divinity isn't of that nature, I can’t alter the reality of their world any further than they, or than you. Though I may not be able to alter your past, I can alter your future, and if you wish, I will take your rage towards me and towards the Demons, and your being will change. You will become the Demons Bane, the First Demonslayer of this world. You will become a Demi-God, and you shall gain the might to take **** on whoever you seek, even if one day that should be me.” She had a caring aura about her, and seemed deeply remorseful.

But Cassius couldn’t make that out through the Holy glare, only focusing on the promise of ****, but… He didn’t blame her, not really. Not truly, and not enough to feel the need to take her down.

But the Demons?

Their fates had now been sealed, as Cassius vowed to take his **** out on them for the rest of his life, so of course, he accepted.

“I bless you, my child, and I… You have my gratitude for your forgiveness, so now, I shall begin my greatest efforts to make it up to you. Let's begin.”

Cassius was looking at the Goddess before him, and saw her reach her hand towards him and tap his forehead.

Cassius reached his destination, and was face to face with a weird barrier, one which for once in his life, he couldn’t feel the ends of.

As he was floating before the barrier, it suddenly opened to welcome him, and as Cassius prepared himself, he entered the opening.

As he flew for a minute, he reached the floating landmass, and with his enhanced sight, he saw a mighty palace in the distance.

He flew at high speeds, and reached it after four minutes.

He landed before the grand gates of the estate, ready to smash them, but before he could, a portal was opened before him, one which he couldn’t see though.

What next?
