Chapter 23

What does Porkum tell Sue Storm?
"Hope you're on birth control."
The Invisible Woman had not been on birth control since Valeria had been born. Reed had always used a condom. The pig-man's words haunted Sue as she sat in the shower, an invisible forcefield like a great funnel directing water into her aching cunny. She had heard it was bad to douche like that—that it could actually drive sperm deeper into the uterus and increase the chances of pregnancy—but Sue turned the layers of skin and muscle invisible, so that she could see her sperm-soaked vaginal canal and wash out every nuke and cranny.
Yet even with all that, she felt unclean. She lay awake all night, unable to turn off her brain as she thought of one of Porkum's little wigglers somehow finding its mark. After all, he was a mutant. She had no idea how long his sperm could survive...and there was just so much of it. It didn't matter what her cycle was, the Invisible Woman knew she couldn't chance a pregnancy.
So the morning after her encounter with Porkum, Sue Storm found herself at the local pharmacy in civilian guise, a black wig, sunglasses, and facemask concealed her identity as she bought the Plan B and a bottle of water. Washed the one down with the other in the restroom of the local Starbucks, than took a frappuccino and limped around Central Park for a while.
She waited for the almost-forgotten sensations. The little cramps that would last all afternoon.
Only they never came.
Exhaustion weighed on the Invisible Woman. Her wounded thigh throbbed. She picked at her food. Sleep-walked through the day, the worry always at the back of her brain. Her hand kept resting on her midsection, as if she could feel what was happening in there. Except she couldn't feel the morning-after pill working.
What will I do? Sue thought as she lay awake. If I do get pregnant? How would I explain it to Reed and the children? I would have to tell them...everything. Or get an abortion...
A weird shudder went through her mind as she imagined her stomach as it slowly swelled with the bastard spawn of her enemy. A part of her hoped to feel her stomach twist. A moment of nausea. Any visceral reaction that would show a phsyical response to the thought.
Instead, she felt a heat spread to her cheeks. Her nipples slowly swelled as her breath grew hot. Like a localized filter in the darkness of the night, a wetness that spread from her armpits and groin...down the crack of her ass. Sue Storm's hands slid down her panties, and she was unsurprised to find the panties damp and sticky.
After a second sleepless night, Sue Storm broke with any pretense of normalcy and went to the medical lab, H.E.R.B.I.E. in tow.
"I need an exam," Sue told the small robot. "Whatever we can do here. I need to know if there's anything wrong with my hormones, ovulation cycle, reproductive system...anything."
"Affirmative," H.E.R.B.I.E. said. "Please strip and step into the probulator."
The remote medical diagnostic unit was one of Reed's odder inventions. Most of the 'probes' weren't invasive, a combination of ultrasound and radiological imaging, combined with needles to draw blood, a cup to accept a urine sample, and small chemical sniffers that ran over her skin. However, Sue had specified her reproductive system, so she endured it as a slim robotic arm slid a pre-lubed white probe, not unlike a narrow toothbrush, into her vaginal canal. It hummed and buzzed for several minutes before it withdrew.
While the initial data was processed, H.E.R.B.I.E. asked a standard bevy of questions. Date of most recent ovulation. Sue hesitated at questions about unprotected sex and number of partners, but answered honestly—and hoped Reed wouldn't notice when she deleted these logs later.
After an hour of poking, prodding, and questioning, Sue slipped back into her form-fitting Fantastic Four uniform—and H.E.R.B.I.E. pronounced the results.
Which were not what the Invisible Woman had hoped or expected to hear.
What is H.E.R.B.I.E.'s verdict?
