"But You're Looking For A New P.A. Darling"

Debbi felt hugely uncomfortable to be standing there in the middle of a boutique showroom stark naked and surrounded by smartly dressed and hugely entitled strangers, not to mention the man who was supposed to be working on her behalf to secure an escape route from Diane's machinations at the company. Should she scuttle back to the dressing room ? Should she remind Celia that she was in possession of her knickers and the camisole she was supposed to be trying on ? As it was, she froze there like a deer in the headlights. Celia was finishing up her dealings with Maxwell, who was preparing to leave. Debbi snapped out of her revery and zoned back into the other conversation, which she now realised was concerning her. "That's certainly an impressive CV for one so young" Sir Jason was saying. Apparently, Alan had been filling them in on Debbi's qualifications.

"But darling, you're looking for a new P.A. for your work in the Lords. Deborah here could be ideal" Lady Annabelle enthused. "Um, it's just Debbi...without an 'e'" Debbi mumbled. "Oh of course it is Debbi darling, you did say" Annabelle corrected herself. "But she sounds like she could be ideal Jason" she continued. "I hardly think that Debbi would be comfortable going through an interview process right now darling, dressed as she is. Or rather isn't !" Sir Jason pointed out. "I know we're informal but not that informal !" he added. "Oh, don't be so stuffy" Annabelle admonished him. "I'm sure she would look just as gorgeous in one of Celia's gowns as she does now with nothing on" she asserted. "I'm sure we could arrange an interview sir" Alan cut in, eager not to lose his commission. "Er, but I'm an I.T. consultant, not a P.A." Debbi pointed out shyly. "Oh but I'm sure your skills would be transferable" Annabelle brushed off the objection.

"Debbi, darling, I'm so sorry, I forgot all about you" said Celia, turning back to her having finished with Maxwell. "We were just going to try some designer underwear before seeing how Debbi looked in a selection of our gowns" she explained for Jason and Annabelle's benefit. "These are Debbi's own knickers," she held them up for the aristocratic couple to inspect "But she was going to try this one piece camisole." Debbi gratefully took the proffered garment and began to turn back towards the dressing room. "Perhaps we could all judge how it looks on her ?" Annabelle suggested. "Absolutely" agreed Celia, not wanting to upset her valued customer. "Slip it on here for us Debbi" she asserted.
