"Bear my spawn."

His answer shocks you into silence, unable to believe your own ears. Did he really just say that he wants you to be the mother of his "child"?

"What?" you ask.

"You heard me," he answers with a little bit of annoyance in his voice.

You're trying to wrap your brain around the concept, and of course the big question is...

"Why?" he asks as if reading your mind. You nod weakly.

"You're not the only one who wants to get out of Hell," his answer only confuses you further. "There are only a small handful of ways to do it. One way is to have someone help you, especially if he knows the paths by heart."

"What has that got to..."

"Another way," he continues, interrupting you. "is for a mortal to bear the spawn of a resident of Hell. Once the spawn is born, the resident transfers their essence into the spawn. So, if that spawn is on the Material Plane..."

"Okay," you hold up your hands. "I get it. You want to play 'Rosemary's Baby' so you can move into the spawn and get out of here.

"So, why me? There have to be billions of others who would jump at the chance. What makes me so special?"

Puck raises a bushy eyebrow as his self-satisfied grin widens. Now you're not sure if you want to hear the answer since it probably comes with even more strings attached.

"There's something we want you to do, and you're in a unique position to do it."

"We?"

Puck's smile momentarily fades, but returns in full very quickly.

"There are some of us here that think Lilith and Grace have gotten too big for their britches, and probably have plans to take the big guy out of the picture and rule Hell and Earth. They may even have designs on..." he looks upward, not wanting to say the name.

"The boss is pretty much giving them a free hand since he's getting more souls, but he isn't seeing the souls Lilith and Grace are keeping for themselves. A lot of those souls are innocents who normally wouldn't end up here except for the interference of those two sluts. It's shifting the balance and could lead to war that would destroy everything. That's not good for business.

"In short, we want you to destroy Grace and then stop Lilith's plans. We think that if you can do it, the big guy will start looking a little closer into what those two have been doing and react... accordingly."

It's a lot to take in, and a Herculean task if you agree to it. Of course, Puck could be lying and he just wants to get out of Hell through you. But if there's a chance you can get back to Earth, it might be worth taking the risk. After all, you planned to take out Grace already so it seems your interests and his align.
