Chapter 3 by Valentine Valentine

How does Cassie finish her question?

"...defined primarily by our appearance?"

Liz sighed as she stared at Cassie. There was always one in every class who you couldn't convince of even the most obvious examples of patriarchy. "Yes, men are nearly incapable of percieving a woman's intelligence or personality. They can only judge a woman based on their physical appearance."

Cassie didn't look convinced. "Oh come on is that really true? I mean yeah women get a Body Point Average score instead of a Grade Point Average but if men really only were concerned with our looks then wouldnt they, I dont know, make us wear something that displayed our score constantly?"

"What do you think that collar around your neck is for then?" Said Liz rubbing her own which currently read 72.

"Fair enough." Pouted Cassie. "I'm still not fully convinced though."

"Okay well then class can any of you help provide Cassie with some examples to aid in her understanding?" Liz addressed the room at large.

In the front row a short blonde whose collar read 85, Diane, raised her hand. "Well this college is a pretty good example. Men with college degrees tend to make more and have more steady employment but women aren't even issued degrees since they dont impact earnings or employment at all. Men only care about a woman's appearance when they hire her."

Suddenly one of the boys in the back of the room spoke up. "Well what else is there really? I know you guys always talk about women having intelligence and personalities but I've never seen any evidence of it. Intelligence tests don't even show a result for women and you all talk in that dry flat monotone so its impossible to tell how you're feeling, or hell even if you're feeling."

"Brett helps demonstrate exactly the issue here, if a woman takes an IQ test or other measure of intelligence men wont be able to interpret the results in the slightest this led to the belief among men that women don't actually have intelligence. Additionally an issue with the male ear will cause all women's voices to be dry and flat. They even have trouble recognizing patterns of women's behaviors or body language." Liz the paused to let that sink in before continuing but of course Cassie's hand was back in the air.

"I mean I don't really see how that hurts womem though. Men have basically no expectations of us so we have a lot more freedom to do things. I mean its not like men think women can even have loyalty at all so we can sleep with any man we want and if you don't like your job you can just leave it."

Another student, Amy, whose collar read 56 turned to face Cassie. "Cassie did you never even take a history class those gains had to be fought for in bloody revolutions. Hell just 300 years ago women were scientifically classified as animals."

"Well sure." Cassie conceded. "But that was then and this is now. Its not like..."

How does Cassie finish her sentence?
