Alex is part of the AMD (Anti-Majin Defense ), Humanity's defense against the Majin (Mythical monsters) threat. He sees the horrors of magical girls fighting Majins daily. He's kept his girlfriend relatively disconnected from the conflict, until she awakens as a magical girl herself.
