When the Reapers were created, it was for one purpose. Protect organic life from creating AI to destroy itself. That is why they synthesize organic life into reaper war forms such as Husks or Collectors. After the suicide mission to attack the collector base, Jane Shepard had told our favourite terrorist cabal to kindly fuck off and die some where. However a forgotten cell of Cerberus managed a breakthrough in communications with the reapers. Learning that if simply half the population of the galaxy "accepted" synthesis, then there would be no need for destruction. The Illusive Man would take that deal any time, for the good of the galaxy. Themes of mind control, misogyny, , degredation, and humiliation. Kinks aren't politics or deeply held beliefs, yadda yadda, you know the drill.
