The new girl

A case of mistaken identity

Chapter 1 by Justdome Justdome

Stacey Parker was your typical 18 year old nerd. Skinny and pale. He also inherited his mother’s delicate features, giving him an almost feminine appearance. His long, blonde hair and his height of only 5 foot 5 inches, didn’t help matters either.

After the of his father, his mom decided to move closer to her parents, which meant Stacey would be starting a new school for his freshman year.

Having moved into their new house only the night before school started, Stacey had no chance to make any friends.

So, on his first day, he already faced the prospect of being a loner and outsider.

Day one:

Stacey arrived at school dressed as he normally was, skinny jeans, hoodie and black boots. He looked around for the office so he could complete his registration. Several students were there already trying to complete their own registration too. Stacey walked over a joined the shortest of the 2 lines. As he waited his turn, the girl in front of him turned to him and asked, “New here?”

Startled that someone, let alone a girl, was talking to him, Stacey pushed his hair behind his ear.

“Yeah, transfer.”

“That’s cool. I’m Kimberly by the way.”

Stacey blushed, wondering why this girl was talking to him? HIM? “Stacey,” he replied.

“Cute name,” Kimberly said. “Welcome to Central High! I’m assuming, since you’re new, you’re not with anyone?”

Stacey shook his head no.

Kimberly laughed. “Don’t worry babe, there are a LOT of hotties here, you’ll have your pick soon!”

The girl behind the counter called out, “Next” and Kimberly took her place at the counter.

Stacey couldn’t believe his luck. Not even 10 minuets at his new school and a girl talked to him! He was on cloud nine.

A few minutes later, the girl behind the counter said “Next” in the same bored voice.

Before Stacey could step to the counter, Kimberly distracted him by saying, “See you around Staci.”

As he looked at her, he failed to notice the sign that said “girls registration”

on the front of the counter.

Stacey turned to face the counter and handed the girl his paperwork.

She scanned it briefly to locate his name. Once she located it, she started typing on the computer in front of her.

Name: Stacy Parker

Gender: Female

Grade: Freshman

ID:

She asked Stacey, “You have an ID yet?”

“Not yet,” he replied.

She entered “NO” under ID.

“You need gym clothes?”

“Yes,” he replied.

“Size?”

Embarrassed, Stacey replied in a soft voice, “small.”

Quickly she entered his information,

Gym clothes/

Top: Small

Shorts: Small

Sports bra: Small

Field hockey skirt: Small

Sweat pants: Small

She hit the enter button and Stacey was officially enrolled at school as a female. She grabbed his class schedule from the printer, handed it to him and said, “Head out of the office, across the hall to the locker room to get your picture taken for your ID. Next!”

Stacey gathered up his papers and headed out the door. The girls locker room was directly across from the office, but Stacey, too busy looking at his schedule, didn’t pay any attention. He simply walked in.

Once inside, a woman said, “quickly now, mirror is over there, fix whatever needs to be fixed before I take your photo. Once I take it, it will be yours for the remainder of the year, even if you lose it. Your photo will be on file, so we don’t have to do this again.”

Stacy didn’t even glance at the mirror, he just handed the woman his papers and sat down in front of the camera.

The woman quickly snapped his pic and entered his student number into the key pad. What he didn’t realize was, his hair was still tucked behind his ear.

The machine dinged and out popped Stacey’s new ID.

“Please make sure all the information is correct, because this is the only time we can change anything.”

Stacey scanned his new ID. Everything appeared in order. He was even surprised that they noted he was a freshman with a large, bold “F” behind his name.

As he was leaving the locker room, the woman thought to herself, “Wasn’t exactly sure that was a girl, but she didn’t question her ID, so oh well.”

As Stacey walked out of the locker room into the gym, looking like a lost puppy, Kimberly and her friends were standing directly across from the exit.

“See, I told you she was a girl,” Kimberly said.

“Wasn’t sure,” said her friend Becky. “But you said she was in the girls registration line and she just came out of the girls locker room. So I’m convinced!”

“She looks lost,” said Toni, the third girl. “You should call her over here.”

Kimberly nodded. “Hey, Staci!”

Stacey looked around and saw Kimberly waving him over.

Thinking he was the luckiest guy in the school, we walked over with a smile on his face.

Becky immediately whispered to the others, “She’d be a lot prettier if she wore some makeup!”

“She dresses like a tomboy,” Toni said.

“Hi Kimberly,” he said as he reached the group.

“Stacey, these are my friends, Becky and Toni!”

Everyone exchanged greetings as Kimberly grabbed Stacey’s schedule from his hands. “Let’s see what your schedule looks like.” She quickly looked over his schedule. “Oh, I see you’ve got Home Ec for third period! We’re in there too! And you e got gym last period, same as us! That’s cool!”

“I didn’t sign up for Home Ec,” Stacey said.

Toni laughed, “They always make the new kids take that! Most guys switch it to Shop. But there is usually a guy or two.”

Stacey thinks to himself, “well, I definitely don’t want to take Shop, so I guess I’ll leave it.”

“And I thought, since I have a Doctors note excusing me from gym I wouldn’t have that class,” Stacey stated.

“State law,” Becky said, “all students are required to take it. At least you won’t have to dress out like the rest of us.” She laughed. “Those gym clothes are UGLY!”

Kimberly handed Stacey his schedule back. “Let’s see how bad your ID turned out.”

As she took his ID, the other girls crowded close to see. They didn’t care about his pic, they were mainly concerned with see if there was an “F” or not.

“Not too bad,” Kimberly said as she handed it back. “We better get moving, don’t want to be late to class. Why don’t you sit with us during lunch? We can introduce you to more people.”

The girls turned to exit the gym, leaving Stacey standing there, stunned.

“Wouldn’t have believed it if I didn’t see her ID,” Becky said.

“Me either,” Toni agreed. “We need to help that girl out of her shell!”

Kimberly laughed, “like Becky and me do for you?”

“Exactly,” Toni said. “I wouldn’t be this girly-girl if it wasn’t for you two!”

Being the 3 biggest gossips in school, word quickly spread about the new girl, Stacey.

What adventures await Stacey?
