The Skeleton Key

A wife's fantasy

Chapter 1 by misty00 misty00

It was the happiest day of Misty life to be married to Bob. He was a good man, loving, kind, gentle and considerate. Aside from that, he also is a good provider and could provide her with the simple creature comfort she needed in her life. Misty was so happy that she finally found her beau and is now married to him.

After the honeymoon, Misty and Bob finally settled into a comfortable routine at home. He and her took turns taking care of the house, the pets and the garden. Bob's house was of a sizable lot for a single man to own. It was a large Victorian home consisting of a large basement, an attic and five bedrooms. Since moving in with him, Misty found it strange that most of the rooms except for their bedroom were locked, especially the basement and the cellar. When asked about it, Bob just told her that it was because those rooms were filled with old stuff his mom had left there for him. Seeing that Bob was not happy about her questions about the locked rooms, Misty stopped asking. However, she was immensely curious.

One day, after Bob had left for work, Misty was dusting up the bookcase in Bob's reading room, she saw an old book called "Secrets of the Words" and picked it up to read it. To her surprise, the book was hollow inside. It wasn't a book but a box made to look like a hard bound book. She opened the book and found a large ring inside holding several keys on it.

"What could these keys open?" Misty thought.

"Ah...I got it! Maybe..." Her eyes sparkled.

She ran downstairs and went to the basement.

At the foot of the stairs is a thick wooden door with iron clad hinges and handle with an old Victorian style lock was almost rusty looking. Hearing her heart pounding, she shakily held up a metal old skeleton key in the key chain.

Should she open the door or wait to talk to Bob?
