The Robot That Replaced Me

John's fingers were a blur on the keyboard, his eyes darting across the screen as he tweaked the final lines of code. It had been a labor of love, an obsession that consumed his every waking moment for the past year. His creation, a humanoid machine he called ST9000, was designed to learn from its environment, adapting and growing like any human would. And today was the day it would come to life.

John glanced over at Amanda, his wife and partner in this grand endeavor, who sat at her own workstation.
