A lesbian gets to make some wishes

You're sitting on your bed scrolling through Instagram when you see a flash of light. A woman appears in front of you, wearing a necklace and an incredibly fancy sparkly blue dress.

"Hello Kate," she says.

"H-how do you know my name?" you ask.

"I know a lot more than that about you," she says. "I know you're 20 years old, a sophomore at UCLA, and you're a lesbian."

You gasp, startled.

"I'd love to stay and chat, but I'm just dropping this off for you." The woman takes her necklace off and hands it to you. "Whatever you wish for will come true. I trust you won't to anything truly immoral."

There is another flash of light, and you feel fuzzy...

(A photo of you)

You wake up to your alarm clock blaring at 7:00. You have class in an hour.

What a strange dream, you think to yourself. Too bad it's not real.

As you make your way to the door, something catches your eye. A green necklace is sitting on top of your dresser. It couldn't be... could it? The necklace from the dream.

You take a closer look at it. Dull green beads are fastened around a meager white string. It's not nearly as impressive as in the dream. No longer glowing, it looks like an ordinary necklace. The notion that it could be magical is ridiculous, yet you still wonder how it got there.

As soon as you step out of your room, you're greeted by your sister, Hailey.

Photo below

Hailey recently turned 18, and is a high school senior. Along with everyone else in your family, she's completely straight; a bummer.

You slip the necklace into your pocket and make your way downstairs. Your mom is putting jelly on toast, and she greets you as you enter the kitchen.

"Can you drive yourself to class today?" she asks. "I have to run to the office."

"Okay," you say. "You know, I wish I had some bacon."

Your mom rolls her eyes.

"Aren't you supposed to be eating healthy right now?" she asks. "I'll get you some turkey bacon next time I'm at the store."

Of course it doesn't work. Magic doesn't exist. You're holding the necklace between your fingers in your pocket.

Feeling disappointed, you gather your things and put them in your backpack. Your mom leaves with Hailey, and you have 30 mins until class. You search for your phone but it's nowhere to be found. 20 mins until class starts. It has to be here somewhere. 10 mins until class starts. Finally you find it under your bed.

It's too late though, with less than 10 mins until class, and the drive is a half an hour. There's no way you're going to make it. Might as well try I guess.

Throwing the necklace around your neck, you realize it might at least work as an accessory.

Your thoughts are interrupted by a bright light. The necklace has started glowing, and has turned to a transparent bluish-green color. It suddenly feels warm to the touch, like it has been around your neck for hours.

I wish it was 7:25am right now.
