The Invisible Man

Chapter 1 by eternalbliss eternalbliss

It is a stormy night and it's raining cats and dogs at your neighborhood. Thunders that strike every now and then flash creepy tree shadows into your bedroom.

"Come on Brad, sleep!" you tell yourself. It's already 1.30 am and you are trying to yourself to sleep. "Damn the thunders!" you mumbled. Only the sound of clock ticking answers your discomfort. You finally give up your comfy bed and push yourself up. You make your way to the kitchen to find something to drink.

You found the half can of lemonade you left on last night's dinner. A quick gulp freshens you up and you are much more awake. You start to feel cold as you realize you have left the warmth of your blanket and your sweater in the bedroom. You shiver a bit, feeling the need to pee.

"Ahh..." you moaned a little as you fill the toilet bowl with your body's liquid waste.
As you wash your hand, you see yourself on the mirror and smile at yourself recalling your discovery of the ability to turn invisible when you were a kid. In the blink of an eye, your reflection disappears off the mirror. There is only a t-shirt hovering with what seems like a hollow power suspending it. You try to comb your hair in that state and starts to laugh. Your homemade comedy ended with a loud phone ring. You quickly run to the phone to pick it up.

"Who's this? Do you know what time it is?" you yelled.

"Brad, it's me. Look, I'm sorry to wake you up this late but the rain is too heavy and I can't get a cab home" a familiar voice answers.

You readily recognized the sweet voice of your girl Rachel.

"Rachel? Where are you now, I'll come to get you."

"Bliss Bar. I'm at the main entrance."

"Okay, I'll be there in 10 minutes."

You grab your raincoat, an umbrella and car key and rush out to your Dodge. As you drive, you wonder what Rachel is doing at Bliss Bar when she has lots of clubs around her town. Rachel's home is 30 miles away and she called you to pick her up at your town's local bar. As you are trying to figure out the possibilities, the blurry pink neon of Bliss Bar looms into view in the heavy rain. As you drive closer to the bar, you see Rachel standing alone at the doorstep. You step off the car and help her into the car. You grab her by the side and could feel her shivering all over. She's all wet. In barely a minute, both of you are in the car, but not before the rain soaks your shoes.

"Th-thanks, Brad." Rachel said, and still shivering.

"What are you doing here anyway? What a surprise." you asked.

"My friend had a birthday bash and she brought me here, then she got drunk and her boyfriend took her home. Others went home on their own and I thought that I could visit you after the party is over. I didn't know it would rain."

You and Rachel argued a little over the incident on your way home.
