The Great Adventures of Marcus Lionheart

A tale of a mage and his friends.

Chapter 1 by Cheddr Bob Cheddr Bob

Marcus Lionheart, a sorcerer from the village of Redwood, was lounging on the ground next to Crystal Lake. He yawned as he thought about all the hardships his party had experienced so far. They had risked their lives (most of them had almost died), fought hoards of monsters, solved masterful traps, and even killed a Lich. And for what? Some mythical item that might not even existed. The idea of even seeing the magic device was enough to cause the young mage to laugh out loud.

The device in question was the Amulet of Cosmos. "It is said to be crafted from pure light and given physical form by the goddess herself. Any man who wields this amulet will gain the ability to create any matter he wishes, and in a sense, become a god."

Marcus recited the foolish prophecy in his head while holding back laughter. How could people really believe in such a thing. No man can become a god, and no god or goddess would give mankind such a dangerous item. Then again, if he really thought this was so ridiculous, why did he agree to this quest in the first place?

Marcus yawned again, stretching his 6'1" athletic frame and running a hand through his long, blonde hair (which was usually tied in a pony tail.) He guessed that the only reason he stayed with this band of gullible fools was so that he could increase his own powers. But even with the need to grow in magical prowess, Marcus couldn't help but take a quick nap by the lake.

Then he heard something. A rustling in the woods. Marcus jumped up and grabbed his sword. Months of traveling with a knight had taught him to be on guard, even against a squirrel in the forest. But as soon as he heard the voice, he lowered his sword. He recognized the voice immediately, and he knew the female it belonged to.

What does she say?
