Director Hanson looked at me and smiled. "I have reviewed your file, Peter, and I think you're exactly what this agency needs. You spent some time in the military, then as a member of law enforcement, and then a private security firm. Do you understand what we're asking you to do?"

I nodded. "I'm supposed to protect celebrities when we're out in public. Protect them from threats, and if necessary, an overly eager press."

"Just don't be too rough. The U.S. has a First Amendment," Hanson warned.

"I know. I am American, after all. But we also have a tamer press, at least compared to other countries."

"True. Do you have any questions?"

"Who will I protect first?" I asked.

"Here. It's in the file. Take your time reading. It should give you most of the relevant information, but we can't include everything. The rest will come from the celebrity herself."
