The Bliss

Thomas was nervous despite the past two weekends working out perfectly. Today was the first day the bar would be fully open to the public. The last few weeks were mostly test runs. Invited guests and people that had declared their interest. It all went smoothly and the team used the experience to iron out the kinks. It was also a very good stress test for the freezing booth.

He went over the last items on the check list for today as the booth next to him stopped humming. He looked inside and Jenny smiled back at him. She always had the prettiest smile when she was frozen and unable to move. Looking down on the display he saw that the vitals were all normal. The elevated heart rate was expected. A side effect of the freezing process and the namesake of the bar. The Bliss. It was described to him as a state of constant euphoria and also only getting more and more intense the longer it lasted.

Next to the vitals there was a little countdown. 07:58:56. If nobody used the booth to unfreeze her Jenny would get control over her body bat once the timer ran out. Usually the guests would be frozen for thirty minutes to two hours but employees would get to enjoy longer stints. Especially if they were chosen to be the display at the entrance like Jenny today. All she had to do was enjoy her time as an object. Thomas gave a quick whistle and one of the employees came inside with a dolly. Both men lifted Jenny out of the booth and loaded her onto the dolly. "Make sure that she makes a great display at the entrance."

Thomas didn't give another thought about Jenny once she was wheeled away. For now she was just another object to be placed and used for maximum efficiency. He made his way into the guest room where the rest of the wait staff was gathered. He did his usual short motivational speech. Reminding them of the sales once again and giving the place a last once over before he would take his place at the entrance next to Jenny to welcome the guests.
