The Aftermath

The hospital was something different for both Riff, and Bernardo when they woke up after a life saving surgery. And both men knew this wasn't something to be expected, since they both felt that they should of died that night, but to wake up from been stabbed; and feeling so much pain near their chests, was a miracle neither of them ever expected. Although they were in separate corners of the hospital room, both men see each other as they both get examined by the doctors. Then both men get moved to different rooms as they each look at each other from a distance, both men still groggy and waking up from surgery. The one thing that both men are grateful for being alive, and once they are strong enough to leave the hospital. They need to regroup with their respectful gangs, but for now they need to get the cops off their tails in order to avoid doing time. Now they both wait to see what their faith, as they both get settled into their room. Somehow faith has a cruel way of playing games, when both Riff and Bernardo soon find out that they are next door to one another. Before they were taken to their own hospital rooms; two police officers showed up, and one of the officers went to Riff to question his whereabouts. While the other officer went to Bernardo to do the same; that's when both men looked at each other, and they both knew they had to convince the police that they were not part of the rumble. That in fact they were the victims of an attack of some kind, and to avoid been thrown in jail, they were going to lie to the cops. They were already handcuffed to the bed as they explain to Officer Krupke, and lieutenant Schrank that they were attacked by someone else, and neither of their gangs were ever involved in any kind of rumble. Both men stuck to their story; as they explain about the meet up, and how they can make a peace offering of the territories. Both men talked about only the leaders meeting up to talk about peace trade, and how they were trying to avoid any kind of fights. But someone set a trap, and how they both ended up in the hospital. Both men explain why their gangs reacted in hearing the news about them been attacked, and why they started to fight with one another believing the other one set up the other. They made the cops believe that a new gang was forming, and was trying to take out the leaders of both Jets and Sharks. Once the cops realize they weren't going anywhere with them, they up and left them to rest in their own rooms. The chances are Riff and Bernardo's charges won't stick, so they will be walking out free after they both get discharged from the hospital.
