The Ace (translation)

This story is set in a future world 200 years after a global war. The war lasted only 3 years, but shortly before the end, one party was so **** that they experimented with miracle cures. In a failure, a biological agent was released. The effects did not appear until 3 years after the end of the conflict.

The agent altered genes. It was developed for soldiers at the time and specifically targets the male genome. Women were not affected. The resulting mutations have different manifestations, but all of them result in the infertility of the person. In a short time, the infestation spreads further and further. The humanity shrunk by the war strongly takes refuge in a large Alliance, the United World Alliance (UWA). This alliance calls a research group from the best Wissenschafftlern into being, but after 10 years it is clear that there is no cure. However, it was found out that in each birth cohort 1% do not have any signs of a mutation defect at birth. In this 1%, 80% of mutations still occur by the age of 23. However, men who do not have a mutation by the age of 23 will never have one. The scientists call these men the aces in the fight against the extinction of mankind.

With this knowledge, the UWA calls the Ace Project into being. All men must be examined on their 23 birthday in a central research facility for mutations. Not much is known about the Ace Project among the population. Men are only ever told of rumors about the freedoms of the Aces behind closed doors.
