Soulmates- Maka and Crona

Soulmates- Maka and Crona

Two are destined to become one

Chapter 1 by Washotep Washotep

city is full of peculiar sights and even stranger citizens. What would you expect of a parallel universe in such close proximity to Las Vegas? The night draws near fast once the annual Festival is done. Maka spent most of her day nonchalantly watching battles from the Weapon Meister Academy students as part of the festivities. She remembers fondly the days when she was a student of DWMA. All time she spent with her friends fooling around in between trying to save souls are treasured memories.

But now things have changed. Maka's friends grew busy. Kid became the new Grimm reaper, making his duties as ruler of city take priority over everything else. Liz and Patty don't get much time to themselves as Kid's aides. Tsubaki and Black Star have settled down together. Soul Evans is the new headmaster of DWMA so he gets tied up with work more often than not. That leaves Maka to observe the festival by herself. Part of her watches the students partaking in combat to reminisce on the good old days. But also, partly out of jealously...

The world has gotten boring since the battle on the dark side of moon. There are no more witches to hunt and monsters are rare. Once Asura was sealed away inside inside the moon, the world became peaceful. Perhaps a little too peaceful for Maka's liking. Defeating Asura did not come without its sacrifices. Maka's body shudders from a sudden flash of memories- she can remember the carnage which took place on the moon like it was yesterday. Yelling. Shrieks of pain. Explosions. Crona's last words...

"Let's meet again Maka..."

Maka gasps in fright after she relives the moment she watched Crona sacrifice themselves to seal Asura inside the moon. Together, Crona and Asura were both swallowed in a sea of black blood before their stone tomb enclosed them. Maka was so lost in thought that she loses track of her bearings. She forgot where she was going and what she planned to do after the festival.

Surely she just wanted to head home right? Or get a takeaway? Did Maka really know what she was doing at all? Did they never have a plan? Maybe she just wanted to wonder. The Halloween decorations are a pretty sight so there is no reason why not to... Maka decides to take a stroll. All on her own, as usual.

Maka thought she had overcome her bout of depression after losing Crona but the weight on the world feels like it is on her shoulders today. Crona's last words felt like a knife in her chest. A promise that could never be fulfilled from a friend which didn't deserve to die. Crona was not the only one who made that same promise. Maka has lost count of how many times her friends said they would try to meet her but couldn't make the time for some reason or another. is bitter but loneliness is cruller.

Continuing her solemn stroll through the park, a sudden strong gust of wind catches Maka off guard. The roar of the whistling winds carries a certain aura about it. Something warm... something familiar... someone. Maka looks around her vicinity confused. There is a presence she cannot pinpoint.

Eerie whispers pass through the air. They draw Maka's attention to someone laying on the ground behind her. Maka is left speechless. Her eyes begin to water as she immediately recognizes the pink haired, slim physique curled up into a fetal position on the ground. By some miracle, Crona's has returned from beyond the void safe and sound.
