Solitude

Lost in big sky country

Chapter 1 by Randomhuman5 Randomhuman5

(Hello. This chapter will primarily focus on me trying to describe the exterior setting/ topology and terrain of the story. If you aren't interested feel free to skip.)

Pant. Pant. Pant.

I paced down the Madison river. It's grassy green, brown banks and river reeds brushed past my knees. I could hear the gentle trickle of the cool Montana river ever present in my mind. Mear feet from me. The light mist wrapped along the river smothering the fertile plain in wet air.

The mountainous terrain filled the skyline with jagged rocky outcrops watching over the river, Solemnly casting there gaze upon me. Watching, waiting.

The darkness was oppressive already late into October with the first frost scheduled for anyday now. My breath froze centimetres from my face. Icey crystals burrowed in my eyebrows bringing a freezing sting to my face. The Cresent moon already rising mocked my every step with its growing might. The glow of day replaced, by the inescapable night. The sun, a near pink glow hanging onto the edge of the world by. One. Finger...

The mighty evergreen pines waved slightly in the Riverside breaze the needles mocked my steps with very one exposing my raw skin to more . Acorns littered the forest floor making the green grass appear beige. A lone antler lay between mighty pine trees. A growth of summers rutt now abandoned for winter. The once beautiful singing of the days song birds was replaced by the mocking laugh of bats and the skull piercing scream of an owl.

Rodents seemed to hound me. With every laboured step a new pair of eyes dug into my flesh. As if waiting for me to collapse so the feast could begin...

Howl!!! Howl!!!

The howl of the grey wolf could mean only one thing...

It was hunting time...

And I was bleeding...

How did I get in this situation?
