Senior Trip

A week before the trip…

Jason Robbins tapped his pencil on his desk as he listened to his science teacher drone on. His emerald green eyes kept darting over to the clock, waiting for the school bell to finally ring.

Come on sixty seconds he thought, the tapping of the pencil speeding up.

The school year was almost over, which meant one thing to him. Senior class trip. He had been waiting for over a month to go on this trip. A full week away from all the pressure of school, a week to spend with his friends, an extra spring break week essentially just with better weather. He had passed all of his state required tests last semester so this semester was going his way. Jason didn’t back off on his studies any like some of his friends so he could still go on the trip and make sure colleges approved him for the fall. As long as all the state tests were passed and the senior was passing all their classes they were able to go on the trip.

“Be sure to pick up your senior trip information packet in the office before you leave for the weekend” said Mr. Mathers just before the bell rang. Jason grabbed his books quickly and bolted from the classroom before anyone else was able to stand up.

Jason raced down the hall and turned the corner and slammed into another guy. Jason fell to the floor his books sliding across the floor. The other person took a few steps back but was able to keep their balance.

“Watch yourself there Jason, you almost took out the star lacrosse player” said Jason’s friend Eli Masters.

“Sorry Eli” Jason replied as Eli helped him up “just excited to go to the office for the senior trip packet.”

“You’re really looking forward to that trip huh?” asked Eli as he helped Jason pick up his books.

“You have no idea how long I have been waiting for this” said Jason.

“I’m going to say when they announced where we were going” Eli smiled.

“Lucky for Jason he has friends that have a class right next to the office and grabbed an extra packet for him” came a female voice behind Eli “that way he won’t embarrass himself in front of the majority of the faculty.”

“That has never stopped him before” replied Eli with a short laugh.

“Chloe you are awesome” said Jason smiling at the red head that appeared behind Eli. Chloe Taylor handed Jason the packet and leaned against Eli’s broad chest.

“And I also have your packet” she stated looking up into Eli’s blue eyes “you can have it after your workout session.”

“Thank you, babe” said Eli and kissed his girlfriend softly on the lips. “Gotta stay fit for college lacrosse.”

“I can tell you guys are excited about the trip” said Jason.

“A little bit” replied Eli as he hefted his backpack up on to his shoulder “but I end up missing a week of workouts.”

“Well I am excited” stated Chloe “and I love where we are going.”
